I'm a little late, but wanted to share some of my thoughts on the show this year.  This was my first year visiting the PGA show and it was like being in Golf wonderland.  So many things to see and so many things to do :)

I started out at the Demo day and was astounded at the sheer size of the range at Orange County.  Imagine all the manufacturers and vendors in a circle and they are all hitting to the center.  Players like Bubba Watson (who put on a nice clinic), were hitting massive drives from one side and as we counted 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 seconds later, they landed with plenty of room to spare on the other side.

Large displays from OEM's with music, DJ's and in some cases, food and drink were offered.  You could wander around the circle all day for hours hitting the newest clubs, working with Vokey wedges, putting with Cameron putters as well as being fit for 915's on a launch monitor.

Opening day was Wednesday and Titleist kicked off the PGA show with a really nice overview of our philosophy, introduced the new 2015 Prov1 and Prov1x golf balls, and talked about our new 915 club offerings.  Jordan Spieth then came out on stage and talked about his partnership with Titleist, how and why he chooses the ball he plays and how extensively he tested both the driver and the ball at our Oceanside Test facility before he put them into play.

The results spoke for themselves as he won twice after putting them in play.  He talked about how he had confidence that he could swing the driver and that he could control his ball around the greens.  It was a great start to the show and several thousand pros attended the Titleist opening.

Bob Vokey and Scotty Cameron also gave talks about the creative process that goes into the wedges and putters and Titleist conducted seminars on the performance of the new ball (with Jordan, his coach, our golf ball gurus), and another on the process and technologies that went into our new 915 metalwoods.

I also attended two coaching seminars.  The first was with Claude Harmon III, Cameron McCormick and Mark Blackburn and they talked about coaching their tour players and developing young talent such as a Jordan.  The second was a wonderful session with Butch Harmon talking about teaching, coaching and the future for PGA club pros.  He emphasized caring and giving to each and every one of his students and encouraged all the pros to give their all everytime they walked out to the lesson tee or represented the PGA.  Great sessions......

In between seminars, I wandered around the show checking out all the new gear, clothes, clubs and gadgets.  There were so many things to see and hear.  People talking about their products, celebrity pop-ups....Bob Vokey talking to players in the Vokey area, Scotty signing autographs and talking about his putters in the Cameron section, Michael Breed at Golf Pride, Butch at Winn, the LPGA players on the fashion stage.....Even had my picture taken with Scotty, Jordan and Bubba :)

Several blisters, sore feet and days later, it was all over and I am plotting my trip for next year.  More organization, comfortable shoes and making sure I see everything!  Here are a couple of pictures that I took:

The stage ready for the Titleist kick off!

Titleist Tour Bags at the Titleist Booth and Staff fitting at Demo Day

Jordan talking about why and how he chooses his ball and equipoment, and his coach showing him swinging at 12 yo

Butch talking to a packed auditorium of PGA pros.

Awesome summary Cathi!  Thanks for the great info!

The last couple of years I have been glued to social media and the golf channel for all of the coverage of the PGA Show!  Being stuck in the Great Ohio January weather it starts the fire burning for the upcoming season!   Every year I would think that I would love to go there sometime to take it all in...... Then this year I saw that you have to be part of the Industry to actually attend!  What a let down....  :(     I guess I will just have to keep following along online and reading great posts like yours to keep up with the latest and greatest each year!

Thanks for sharing Cathi.  It only makes me wish I could attend and enjoy the whole process of the Titleist family like you did.  To be in the same room as all those you mentioned had to be a wonderful experience that for most of us would be a bucket list.

Thanks for the review of the show, Cathi.  As you and others have described it, it is a fabulous opportunity to see, touch, and learn all about new products and new lines from the full range of golf gear manufacturers.  I think everyone of us non-golf professionals dreams about attending such an event, with little chance to actually do so. Only vicariously through kind folks like you can we get such an insight to this show.  Thank you.

    Thanks Cathi....!!!

Sounds like it was loads of fun....and I'm assuming that there's no better way to attend that show than walking around representing the class of the brands that are represented there...!!

The only thing better would have been having the show right now, when there's a couple of feet of snow on the ground here in Massachusetts...!

Only a few more weeks to go though....!!

Thanks again for the great recap...!

    Cathi,

Thanks for sharing!  Your post allows those of us that have yet to attend the show to live vicariously through your description and pics.  I've always thought that attending the show would be a bit like a kid in a candy store and your post confirms it for me!

    Thanks again,

Thank you for sharing Cathi!  Sounds like a great time and hopefully someday they'll open these up to some of the amateurs.. haha..

IMO, besides the Masters, this has to be the next best thing to attend.   Sounds like heaven to me....

If you don't mind me asking,  besides Titleist, FJ, Scotty, etc. was there a product that caught your eye?

I am a total club junkie like all of you and love to check out new clubs, gadgets and stuff.  Not to be one sided, I loved the way the Titleist booth flowed.  It was easy to walk around and through.  On one curved side, Scotty had a display of really cool headcovers and putters and he was totally accessible to all that wanted to chat, and on another curved side, Bob had all his wedges and was having a blast talking to people about his wedges, then you wandered through the center and on one side was the bag wall and there were stand alones that had sound domes so you could listen to talks on the process of creating irons and metalwoods.  On the opposite end, they had the history of the golf balls and all the balls from every year were there to touch and see.  There were the Reps in white jackets explaining the evolution and history of the golf ball and sound domes telling the story of how they are made.  Really my favorite OEM area:)

There were new companies trying to launch fitness tools, golf club tracking devices, launch monitors and a cool device kind of like the segway except you had your clubs on it as well.. As far as a product, not really one specifically that I had to have.  I do already own a lot of golf gadgets.   lol

I did catch Jason Glass talking about two of the most important stabilizers in your golf swing and his talk really stood out.  He talked about players that build up their arms or their quads, but that if you think about it, what connects your arms and legs to your body?. You are only as strong as your weakest link. It doesn't matter how strong your arms and legs are if your scapulas or hip girdles are weak.  So he gave a couple of exercises to strengthen the hip girdle and the scapula.  Totally made sense.

The PGA show is an industry show for PGA pros as well as their buyers and merchandisers.  Many pros do their spring ordering for their shops as well as get a chance to see everything they will need for the year in one place.

The Titleist seminars are for Titleist golf staff pros and are by invitation only.  We had standing room and a waiting list for almost all the seminars.

Great stuff as always Cathi!!! Really enjoyed your post!

The PGA Show is great as I love the Demo Day and then walking the merchandise floor!

I wish I were there this year as I think it was a monumental product year and will be so again for Titleist!

We are truly spoiled...DNA FootJoys(IMO - the best shoe EVER!) to the HyperFlex, the 915 , and of course the New Pro V1 and Pro V1X Launch!  Now, if we do not play great golf this year, it is the fault of the Archer, not the Arrows.

Thank you to all the staff for supporting us that play and use your products. The tolls and video are a great help on improving our games.   I, like most go on and on when someone asks us why we play Titleist.

I'm looking forward to you expanding on your review !

We were at the show on Wed.  It was a sensory overload.  I stopped by Titleist, and met the fine folks and Bob Vokey.  Just too much to cover in one day.

Kathy, the 2015 PGA Show is always a blast to watch on TGC and it sounds like it's even more amazing in person.  I am glad you had a great time and I hope you enjoyed the warm weather!

It was definitely all that I expected and more.  As far as the warm weather, Will and I are on the Team Titleist golf club side and are in Carlsbad, CA., so fortunately, it has been around 70 every day.

Bubba and Mike are at our corporate headquarters in the East coast side of Team Titleist and are a bit colder in Fairhaven, MA.  :)

Thanks for Sharing your experiences, It gets the blood flowing. I can't wait for the annual Golf Show and Demo Day's here in the Metro Detroit area. I think I'm wearing out the carpet in my den chipping around to some putting disk.

Cathi - Thanks for update and insight.  Sounds like you had a lot of fun.  It's interesting to hear what different companies (and specifically Titleist) do for and at the show.  It's been almost 20 years since I was last at the PGA show, and from the sounds of it, it has changed a lot!  One of these years I'm going to find a way and the time to go back.
