As the weather finally (yes, finally) starts to take a turn for the better here in the Northeast, I start having to weigh my lunch hour options a bit more. It's always hard to skip a range session and it's always my first choice, but I figured it would be fun to hear what everyone else does for their lunch hour.

I would love to eat my lunch on the way to the driving range if there was one close to where I worked,  But for now I try to get out and get a walk in and some fresh air.

When I worked in an office I'd eat at the range all the time. Hit a medium bucket and loosely simulate a round, and watch what it does to your game. I'd pick a target fairway and hit a drive, take a bite, let it settle then hit a 7 iron and move down the bag. It's a lunch well spent.

I have an indoor range across the street from work so I eat my lunches there after hitting about 100 or so balls, which can sometimes feels like a cardio workout.

Love it....  Here's a thought and what I have found to be very benefical in my life:

    • Rise Early and get the workout in: For me, 4:00am walk 1 hour, cardio, and weights
    • Range Session or equivalent each day: Hit balls one day, chip and putt the next.
    • Light lunch for me, so eating it on the way back to the office works good.
    • Other: Still LOVE my job, whcih makes it easy to balance out.

Of course.....We have been playing golf here in Utah all winter long, which helps in a ll aspects...  Keep it in the Fairways!

I only have a 30 minute lunch, which after I eat is more like 15.  I've been using the time to pursue my other passion - practicing with my guitar.

That's the beauty of Top Golf in Dallas.  You can practice and eat lunch!

I'd love to be able to get some swings in at lunch, but I unfortunately don't have a range close enough.

I wish I had enough time to visit the range and hot balls at lunch time, I'm sure it would help my game! practice unfortunately has to be limited to before or after work or on the weekends.

Its good to hear what you fella's do for lunch.  I'm really enjoying retirement.  Play 18 on foot by lunch time then take a nap, followed by DVR episodes of Gunsmoke till super time.  I do take Saturday's off for rest so playing golf is kinda like a job.

I opt to work through my lunch period so I can leave earlier and head to the course!

    Mike,

I retired in 2014, so I now have enough time to do all the items on the list plus many more.  The really nice part, I get to pick and choose what I want to do and in what order everyday.  When I was working we only had 30 minutes for lunch, so I spent that 30 minutes eating and reading the paper (there was no way I could get to a range and back in 30 minutes).

Seeing that I only have a 30 min lunch, there is no time to hit the range. But the weather has improved and now I can do my pre dinner routine and hit the range on  my way home and my wife has no clue.Yeah right she had me figured out the first week.LOL

To the club, grab a dog, hit the practice area. Sometimes hit a few balls, sometimes putt, sometimes work the short game. Return to work refreshed and relaxed, ready to be efficient, smiling all afternoon. Not every day, but maybe 2-3x week.

Given what I do it is usually client lunches or driving range

Lunch takes precedence for me, when I'm not on the course during my "lunch hour."  Sort of hard to tell when you're retired and play 4-6 times a week.

Would love to hit the range, but with a 45 minute lunch break, I do not have the time...

With proper time planning and prioritization, you can do all three.  Gym work is first thing in the morning.  Eating as much as you can after the gym to keep fueled for the day.  Small snacks on the go.  I don't eat again until I'm finished for the day usually around 9 pm.  Golf is a priority always.  Get as much in during the daylight hours.  My thoughts are always, "I'm losing light!  Gotta get out to the course!"  Go to bed, dream about golf, my swing, shots, how I can improve. Rest.  Repeat first thing in the morning!

Unfortunately...we do not have a driving range close enough to enjoy during lunch.  My lunch usually consists of eating the much anticipated "desk lunch" and getting my golf fix here on Titleist.com.

Normally I go to the gym, but early in the season I like to go to the range and work off some of the rust built up over the winter. Most of the stuff I do in the gym is with golf in mind.

As a firefighter I can only hope that things are slow when its lunch time so I can get a chance for a bite to eat. But cant complain as I do have the next day off to get some golf in

For me, the range is out of the question as it is to far away from work to get there and back during my lunch break, so walking is my first choice. We have walking trails at work which make choosing this option a easy choice as well. Other than the fitness benefit that the walking provides the trails help prepare me for walking the course after work and on the weekends as the temperatures increase here in the south... As for lunch its usually a sandwich which I can eat on the fly.
