Hello. I wanted to know if Team Titleist members preferred to ride/drive a cart during their round or walk the course.

In my opinion I prefer to walk. I feel that I not only play better, but I get to take in the golf course. My game management improves when I walk, because I really think over all of my decisions while walking up to my upcoming shot.

Thanks, I hope to hear from you soon,

    Jack

I can no longer walk the course, so I am forced to use a cart. I prefer to rid versus drive, but I will do either. The part of the game I miss the most is the ability to walk the course and think over the shot played and the one that needs to be executed. It always helped me remain focused. Since I'm forced to use a cart, I have had to tweak my thought process in an effort to remain focused.

I love to walk w/ my push cart..   Good exercise and like you said Jack, it gives me time to think about my next shot which I think speeds up the play of golf, IMO...

Also, this gives you more times to chat with your buddies WHILE you're walking to your ball...

I love to walk.  Almost every round I play I walk.  My home course if very "walker friendly" as the greens and next tee boxes are close together.  I find that when I ride in a cart it takes me out of my "flow."  It is uncanny how I know the distances when walking and do not need a rangefinder or sprinkler head.

It is almost like riding turns into a completely different game.

I would rather walk the course then ride, just feel I play better walking then when riding, plus side of walking is staying loose through out the round and it mentally helps me  when I hit a bad shot to erase it from my mind as I walk to my ball.Christopher already said it but great exercise.

I walk in the fall, winter and early spring but now that the dog days of summer are here I ride. Walking in 100 degree heat index or higher is no fun and playing early is not a good option as the early morning dew gets you soaking wet and the humidity is at it's peak.

Walk and carry all day!!  I feel like I play much better and get into a solid rhythm when I'm walking. I've even walked at tracks where the car was included.  It's just a more enjoyable experience IMO

  8. Jack K, I'm a walker. I like being able to have all my clubs when it's cart path only. Besides it helps me maintain my "great figure"!!!!! steve b

Our club has a rule that when it's cart path only and you use a push cart, you cannot push the cart out on the fairway, only as far as the second cut. The greens committee thinks that the carts will leave a rut that will mar the fairway. I think the greens committee is biased against walkers as the carts today leave less of an imprint than a human foot print loaded down with a shouldered golf bad IMHO. Do other clubs have such a rule ?

I would certainly prefer to ride, but I wouldn't be opposed to walking if someone had asked, just wouldn't make it a regular thing.

As a general rule I typically walk if I'm only playing 9 and ride if I'm doing a full 18

I always prefer to walk. My wife and I use a trolley to carry our clubs. I only use a cart if its a huge course that's hilly and there long distances between the greens and tees. Preferred course is a links course and walking.

either to me is fine. some of my older playing partners like to ride so i will with them. sometimes in the heat of summer (Florida) i'll ride because the heat can really wear you out when walking

Depending upon the course or the situation, I'll do either.  I prefer walking, for the same reasons already listed.  But if I'm the only guy in the foursome walking, or if it's a course designed for carts (long distances between green and next tee), I'll ride.

I prefer to walk most courses. I like the additional exercise, it helps me to stay in a better mindset, and it allows me to take in and enjoy a lot more about the course and the day in general.

I would rather walk than ride. When I ride in cart I have a tendency to rush the shot. Walking gives one the time to contemplate the meaning of life and the next shot.

I prefer to walk, but with a lack of cartilage in my left knee it's hard to too much walking anymore I have an unloader brace that I wear, but even with that I'm only good for 9 holes walking.  If I'm playing 18, I have to ride.

Walking .... unless they make you pay for a cart.

Depends on the course and the weather. I walk whenever possible but when I play 18 with my youngest we do occasionally ride together, sometimes I think that helps him enjoy it more when he has issues getting the ball in the hole.

I walk with a push cart. It's a compromise for me, i don't like to ride, but i don't want to carry my bag.

If I had a caddie, it would be perfect.

I actually like to walk when I have the opportunity.  Our Club doesn't allow walking on Saturday mornings (before 12:00) as a way of trying to get all the morning players around in a timely manner, but if I get out during the week or Sunday afternoon I will usually walk.  Not only is it great exercise, but a great way to have good conversations and camaraderie with your entire foursome as you make the trek up the fairways.

I agree with the other posters here that walking is better.  It helps with rhythm, course management, and obviously gives us some much needed exercise!

I bought a lightweight stand bag to carry, and sometimes walk with just my 'odd' irons and one wedge to save weight and make that days round just a little more interesting.

Walking is best...by far. In Florida riding is a must at times but when the weather permits I love to walk. I agree with everyone that talked about the rhythm of the game. It makes a difference.
