I recently (this month) changed my golf club membership and the new club includes a locker. At my old club I always arrived prepared, and if I was coming straight from work, would bring a change of clothes with me. So what are the essential items I should keep in this new locker, or is it just a place to hang my work clothes?

most important is to keep an extra shirt and pair of socks.

nothing worse then getting caught in an unexpected rain storm and coming back to the club house with wet socks and a wet shirt.

I tend to keep a few pairs of FootJoy shoes in my locker.  Ok, I will admit that I had to get a separate locker just to hold some of my FootJoy golf shoes (see below).  In my other locker, addition to a few more pairs of shoes, I keep extra clothes, rain gear, boxes of balls and a humidor for fresh cigars so I am ready for the golf course.

I don,,t live very far from my club so I don,t have a lot of clothes in my locker except for a couple of wind breakers and a toboggan.

i have 4 pairs of Footjoys and a box of Titleist gloves and  Pro VIx balls. I will buy  12 dozen balls at the start of the year and a couple boxes of gloves  and they will last for most of the year. Our exercise room is close by and I have a weighted driver and a couple of golf training devices to work out with. That's about it except for the usual junk that piles up.

Wow... Mike, I'm intersted in the humidor you keep in your locker.  Can you post a pic of the other locker?  Thanks.

Mike, I love the locker set up. People at my old club used to give me a hard time because my trunk was set up like your locker, albeit with only 6 or 8 pair of Footjoys, two cubbies for shirts and shorts/pants, and another for jackets and vests. Plus about 10 extra clubs, in addition to my full Titleist cart bag and a Titleist stand bag too. But, you put me to shame. I'm gonna have to up my storage game. I joined a new club and got a locker with my membership, but I don't think I can match you. Besides, I live virtually around the corner from the new club, so really don't need to keep everything in the locker. I totally like yours though. It's good to see there are other OCD people like myself.

I was right Mike, some of you do have more pairs of shoes than I play rounds of golf annually. I need to catch up!!....lol

Looks like you've got some underutilized space on the door, though.

Lockers are handy.  You'll probably find that it simplifies things a little.

Essentials, I keep a complete change of clothes and toiletry items for after the game.  July and August I'll usually take a fresh set of clothes daily.  For wet weather: FootJoy rain gear and an umbrella. For cold weather: FootJoy winter gloves, Patagonia undershirt, and a wool sweater.  An extra pair of golf shoes.  Three golf towels.  Bug spray.  A few Partagas Robusto's in glass tubes.

My club does not have a bag room so I keep the clubs in the trunk of the car.  Then when I arrive at the course I go to the locker room and outfit the bag according to what I need and change clothes for the weather if needed.  Since I walk most of the time I tend to keep the bag with essentials only.

We have a cleaning lady who has the locker roof off limits from 10-11 am.   She puts out plenty of fresh towels and keeps the place tidy.

I keep a couple of shirts, at least one pair of shorts, a rain vest, socks and a hat or two.

Dozen golf balls, spare pair of shoes and sunscreen.

A fresh golf shirt is a must.  I also keep a few pair of shoes, toiletries, an extra cap, golf balls, and a back up sand wedge to practice my short game if I've only got a few minutes.  The best part about having a locker at your golf club is not having to change shoes in the parking lot on your back bumper. The worst part is not getting a good pre game stretch from putting on your golf shoes in the parking lot on your back bumper.

I keep a couple sets of golf shorts and polos so I always have some playing clothes if I have to rush to the course to get 9/18 holes in. Or if I'm running late for the men's league.

I also keep extra gloves, shoes, socks, and a belt. I throw a few sleeves of balls in there too so I don't have to pay the up-charge at the club. Basically course acceptable clothing so I can come in my birthday suit and still get a round in. :)

I don't belong to a club.  But my Truck is fully loaded.  I have a duffle with extra shirts, socks, golf balls, tee's , hats.  I even keep a few T shirts and a pair of Shorts ( its a pretty big duffle) .  This way I am always prepared.  And of course my clubs are in the back seat always.  If you want a ride its the truck bed for you , I don't move my clubs ..haha

My club instituted a new policy this year that there will be no changing of clothes in the parking lot! I hate to admit that I'm "that guy" but in my defense my office is only about a mile from my club so I'd show up in my work clothes and change everything in the lot. 1st offense is a warning, 2nd is 2 week suspension, and 3rd is (I think) termination!

Needless to say I'm springing for a locker this year!

  27. I keep fj shoes, some rain gear and extra clothes
