Inside Titleist's Seeding and Tour Validation Process:
The start to the seeding and tour validation process for the new Prototype Titleist AP1, AP2, CB and MB (712 series) irons got off to an earlier-than-expected start this week at Aronimink Golf Club outside Philadelphia.
Not long after making an early arrival to AT&T National last Sunday, Titleist Brand Ambassadors Scott Stallings and Bobby Gates noticed a towering pile of cardboard boxes marked with the Titleist Script sitting on top of a pool table in the Aronimink locker room.
They immediately texted Chris Tuten, Titleist Golf Clubs' Director of Tour Promotions, to see if they were allowed to open their new prototype irons and begin testing. Thirty-six holes and five hours later (they had a golf cart), Scott and Bobby were back in the locker room storing their previous sets in their locker.
"Getting some of those texts from those guys that the product is great before we had even arrived was pretty cool," Chris said.
That was the beginning of an action-packed and educational week for our Titleist Tour Reps and Titleist Golf Club R&D team, working with our players to show, explain, fit and test the new irons.
And on Thursday, 19 Titleist Brand Ambassadors stepped to the first tee at Aronimink Club with new Prototype Titleist irons in their bags, just days after seeing them for the first time: Nick Watney (AP2), Geoff Ogilvy (MB), Bill Haas (CB), Troy Matteson (CB), Hunter Haas (AP2), Kris Blanks (CB), Chris Kirk (CB), Brendan de Jonge (AP2), Brian Davis (CB), Jason Dufner (AP2), Ryuji Imada (CB), Michael Sim (AP2), Michael Connell (CB/MB), Ben Curtis (AP1), Greg Chalmers (CB), Jimmy Walker (MB), Marc Leishman (AP2/MB), Scott Stallings (AP2) and Bobby Gates (CB/MB).
Check out the above videos, as Team Titleist caught up with Titleist's golf club experts at Aronimink to get a closer look at the new prototype Titleist irons and Titleist's seeding and tour validation process, which will continue over the coming weeks across the worldwide professional tours.
The feedback we receive during this validation process influences the design and specifications of the Titleist products available in golf shops around the world.
