Saxon breaks through for first PGA Tour China title

“This is by far the biggest win I’ve ever had. I feel great!”

These were the words of Titleist golf ball loyalist Charlie Saxon (Pro V1x) shortly after he closed with a spotless 6-under-par 66 to secure a one-shot victory at the PingAn Bank Open.

“Whenever you have a chance to win and you’re able to capitalize on that and deal with the pressure and the nerves that go with that, it’s obviously very rewarding,” said Saxon, who posted a 22-under-par 266 victory total.

The win marks the first career PGA TOUR China Series crown for Saxon, who started the day one shot behind the leader and fellow Titleist golf ball loyalist Xinjun Zhang (Pro V1x).

Zhang closed with a 5-under-par 67 to finish solo second, one shot back.

The win vaults Saxon to No. 2 on the PGA Tour China Order of Merit standings, putting him in solid position to earn membership on the 2017 Web.com Tour.

Eight of the top 10 finishers at the event relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success.

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

Titleist was the golf ball of choice at the PingAn Bank Open with 93 players in the field trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than five times the nearest competitor with 17.
