March 25th, 2018 Hole in One

Cold, wet day in Oregon. Started off my round with back to back bogeys on one and two. Was hoping to get a shot back at 3, one of my favorite holes on the course. With light rain and a slight headwind, I pulled 9 iron from 137. The pin was back right, protected by a bunker short and water right. Hoped to play a low draw that would drop and stop on the back tier of the green, perhaps fall back down below the hole. Had a good strike, the ball seemed to come out higher than I wanted but was tracking all the way. I watched the ball land behind the pin and considering the high ball flight, I started walking to my bag, thinking it would stay behind the pin and I had a makeable birdie opportunity. As I was wiping off my club, my playing partners started making noise and I apparently looked up right after the ball trickled back into the hole. The par-3 3rd at Willamette Valley CC in Canby, OR, my first ace!
