In the rain on the Mountain

In the rain on the Mountain

I was invited to play at The Inn of the Mountain Gods in Ruidoso, NM over Labor Day weekend. Light rain began to fall when we made the turn and continued to fall as we teed off on hole 12. The scorecard says 171 yards, but today was playing 164 according to GPS. When I teed off with an 8 iron, I seen the ball headed straight for the pin. I said aloud, “be the stick!” and my playing partner said, “That is right at it(flag).” All of us could hear the distinct sound of the ball landing on the green. But none of us could see the ball due to the rain. We moved down to the ladies tees and my playing partner’s wife teed off. None of us could spot my ball on the green from there, either. When we approached the green, I carried my umbrella and looked in the hole. To my surprise, my Pro V1 was in the cup! I flipped my umbrella like I had just hit a walkoff homerun!
