\\ Colonial Country Club, Fort Worth, Texas (If you can get on; exclusive) TCP in San Antonio, Texas(2 courses)(Texas Open just ended, course is in excellent condition, so is the weather) LaCantera (2 courses)former home of Texas Open, San Antonio, Texas I'm from San Antonio, and the best public course is Brackenridge Park ($75.00. The greens are just like the TPC. There are 25 courses in a 15 mile radius in San Antonio, can't go wrong, and in San Antonio, we have 360 days of sunshine.

I agree with these recommendations.  Don't forget Barton Creek in Austin, the Crenshaw course.

  4. As you said... It's a big state!!

Where are you plan on playing?

Depending upon your price range, there are several in San Antonio that I would recommend.

Vaaler Creek just south of Blanco, would be my first choice. It's close to both Austin and San Antonio, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg to play!! It's a drive from both Austin and San Antonio, but well worth it!!

Closer to Austin would be Quicksand at Wimberly and several of the muni courses.

Foresight Golf manages several courses around south Texas. You can look at their website for more information. They have courses in San Antonio (The Republic), Kyle (Plum Creek) - just south of Austin, The Buckhorn in Comfort, and The Bandit in McQueeny/Seguin area. They also have courses in Courpus Christi and the valley (Edinburg).

Alamo Golf Trails manages the city of San Antonio golf courses with Brackenridge, Cedar Creek, Willow Springs, Olmos Park, and Mission Del Lago. They also have a website.

The pricier options in San Antonio are The Quarry, Hyatt Hill Country Resort, La Cantera, TPC San Antonio, Cordelliera, Fair Oaks Ranch, Silverhorn, Canyon Springs, and maybe River Crossing (a little farther north on 281).

Any of these courses offer a wide range of options and great golfing!!

As you said, everything is bigger!!

    Good luck!!
