on my way to my ML fitting, I was able to get a round at TPC Boston to warm up. the fitting is tomorrow morning. My round was originally scheduled for 11:20, but I was able to switch it to 8:00. Upon arriving at the course, I see that my group will be first out!!!! The only issue was that the other 3 players that signed up were no-shows. I ended up golfing solo today, but rather than getting myself down after paying a nice $$ for greens fees. I did ask if the next group had an opening, but no luck. The course is awesome and they had fore caddies on every non par 3 hole. Knowing this, I took my time and talked with the caddies. After a while, I had put a sizeable gap to the other group. The fore caddies for the back 9 were just starting to arrive. So, to help out my round and their own situation, I was assigned my own fore caddie for the rest of the round!!! he was a nice kid and knew the course well. Plus, he was also a great cheerleader for several par saving putts. If you ever get an opportunity to play TPC Boston, make sure to take advantage. The course is challenging yet playable. I played the blended tees at 6,257 yards, rating of 71.2 and a slope of 135! It will definitely be on my calendar again!!!! Steve

That's awesome!  I'm hoping to get up there one of these summers.  I've never heard a bad thing about that place.  If I wasn't playing with friends, I would probably prefer to play first and by myself.  Sounds like you were able to experience TPC Boston in a unique and special way.

TPC is a great course, providing a good test of your game.  I was so fortunate to play it, even if my game was up to the challenge that day.  It sounds like you had an awesome experience.  I'd love to hear more about your Manchester Lane experience!

it was an awesome mini getaway. TPC Boston is a fabulous course. It was a MasterCard Day, so the course was busy - except for my tee time. I had changed from 11:20 to 8:00. It was first time of the day and the other 3 golfers were missing. I ended up playing the round solo. The course puts forecaddies out on every non Par 3 to spot balls, provide yardage and suggestions. Since I was getting to the holes quickly, they ended up assigning one of the caddies to me for the back 9. He was a nice kid who knew the course well and where to go/not go. It was also company for me on the back 9. my 2 bad holes were 1 and 18 - doubled both. Otherwise, I was getting up and down to save par quite a bit. The greens were quick but ran true and I putted really well with several one putts. Overall, I shot a very respectable 82 and will definitely plan to go back up next year. I took a few pics with my phone, but have no idea how to upload them. Feel free to PM me with advice. the fitting was even better. I will start a different thread. Steve

Glad you had fun!  I've done a few of those MC events.  Nothing better than playing a first class course.  The food is epic there too!
