I am looking to retire in Charleston South Carolina - before I do I want to take a golf vacation there before moving. Any recommendation for golf courses to play - if I have 3 golf days?

    Thanks

Maybe we should hook-up with Chuck Z for a playing tour. I'm definitely moving from WI when the paychecks stop.
    Chuck?

Kathy, when do plan on retiring in our area and where do you plan on living. . Do you plan on joining a club? There are a number of good courses in the area that are public and can be enjoyable. Mt Pleasant: Dunes West (semi-private), Wild Dunes Resort (public), Patriots Point (public), Charleston: Kiawah Island Resort (The Ocean Course, Turtle Point, Osprey Point, Cougar Point, Oak Point, all public.) North Charleston: Coosaw (public), Westcott (municipal).

Kiawah Island is an expensive resort to play (the Ocean Course runs $350+ and that does not include the fore caddie). I have played the Ocean Course many times and it is an outstanding hard course. The other courses there are outstanding as well and not as expensive. Turtle Point is worth playing. They are about a thirty minute drive from downtown Charleston. There are two other courses at Kiawah, Cassique and the River Course but they are Private.
  6. Kiawah Ocean is great but watch out for the locals....

One of the little fellows down at Kiawah. Hole number ten, at the tee box is a favorite of some of the bigger reptiles. When the PGA was here, I was the hole Captain for that hole and a few of the players could not believe how fast they were. One played us a visit. Best not to tease them.....

Thomas is right, there are a number of awesome private clubs in the Charleston area: Yeamans Hall, Bulls Bay, The River Course and Cassique at Kiawah, Ralston at Daniel Island, and the Country Club of Charleston.

I would recommend Yeaman's Hall and Bulls Bay as well. Both are private, but well worth it if you can gain access.
