    I did it !!!!

Today I picked up a new Scotty Cameron GoLo 5

It is a beautiful putter and feels so nice in my hands.

I tried a variety of Scotty's and other manufacturers at the store on their indoor practice green. I was wary of the fact that perhaps the greens in the store were designed to always flow the ball to the hole so to be sure, I placed a coin on the practice mat and tried 6 balls with each putter. My wife kept handing me a different one and since I was putting them all from the same spot it was interesting that the GoLo 5 was the one that repeatedly was the one that I could consistently sink putts with.

We tried this from different distances with the same result. Some putters I simply kept pushing right while other putters I kept pulling left. The GoLo 5 had the most consistent roll for both line and distance.

Now the bag is almost completely Titleist.

Just a couple of wedges away, but for now they will have to wait :)

    Hey Darius!

Awesome!!!!  I hope your new baby rolls in a couple of big birds very soon!

Having confidence in your putting tool is so awesome.  I'm absolutely LOVING my Futura X this year.  I'm not going to say that I make everything, but I find my missed are so much better than they used to be.

Have you left your Scotty stock, or did you have it tweaked?

    Hey Kevin...

I did not make any changes to my Scotty. It has the 10 weights in the head as in the store.

The good news is that I played in our Seniors Club Championship Saturday and managed to come in second place. I know that is not a win, but the competition was tough as the winner was only 1 over par. I finished at 4 over. I only had 34 putts which apparently was very good given the fact that the greens were tricky for the tournament. Pretty fast with holes in places that made you wonder how you could possibly get it close. A lot of guys in the club house were lamenting about their 38, 39, and 40 putts, so my Scotty obviously saved me more strokes than I thought :)

    Glad I made the purchase.

Great job Darius! That means your ball striking was pretty darn good too! Congratulations on both the new addition and the tournament finish! I used to play putters from two other well known makers, but always admired the Scotty Cameron putters... so last year, I broke down and picked one up too. I just love the weight and balance of the putter, coupled with the terrific feel of the ball coming off of the putter face. Again, congratulations on the new addition! D

What I would love to know is how you convinced your wife to stand there and watch you hit all those putts? My scotty is handsdiwn my favorite and most trusted club in the bag. Enjoy yours

I have to say that I am a lucky man !  The funny thing is that my wife finds golfing sort of boring. She really does not like to play, but interestingly enough will watch me come in on the 18th hole during our club championship, will encourage me to go out to do something I obviously enjoy, and watch the bigger tournaments on television with me :)

The only thing I can't get her to do is caddie for me, but then again that is probably not a bad thing .

After 38 years, I am still living the dream !  (and no - she is not watching me write this)

Congratulations Darius! It sounds like you and your wife have not only a good marriage but a great relationship too. On a side and hopefully humorous note, one of the local golf courses that I play at has a sign in the clubhouse bar area in which they announce that they provide a "babysitting" service for husbands ... and they have rates for 9 - holes or 18 - holes accordingly!

    Time for an update...

Since I got my new Scotty Cameron putter I have played numerous rounds, and have yet to have a game where I have had more than 36 putts. I have been averaging 33 putts per round which is awesome. I have even had a round with 29 putts which was a first.

This weekend we had our Club Championship and I had a total of 68 putts (34 + 34) and managed to shoot my lowest two day score ever :)  I managed to come in 4th this year. I know it is not a win, but it was my lowest two day total in the Club Championship for 11 years. I was even four strokes better than the year when I won back in 2006.

It's not all about winning although that would be nice.  It ultimately comes down to personal bests. This was certainly it, and my putting helped me do it this year !

I am so pleased that I got my Scotty :)
