I feel like I am about to blaspheme in the church of Titleist but has anyone ever compared a Titleist NXT Tour or Tour S with a srxn Q-Star?  My friend has the typical mixed bag of clubs, clothes that don't match and represents every brand of golf there is but he is adamant that the Q-Star is better than the NXT.  I have not yet committed the sin of trying this golf ball yet but am curious if anyone has.  I typically play either the NXT Tour S or the Pro V1X.  Any thoughts?

If you have read this post and have ever wondered, here are the results I found out playing a round yesterday.  I used a ProV1X on the front 9 and a Q-Star on the back.  Here is what I discovered:

Driver distance ProV1X by a long shot

Irons=pretty equivalent with the edge going to ProV1X because it stops better on the green

Short game-no comparison here, ProV1X by a long shot

Putting=very equal feel rolling off the putter

    Front 9 score=39

    Back 9 score=40

    Confidence with each ball=ProV1X

My conclusion is what I expected, ProV1X.

Thanks for your response - I would have been close. The optic version, after the first 6, became my go-to ball for long carries after water. Never found it as good as an NXT or now the Velocity for staying in the fairway. Lessons were the best solution for the big banana.

    Don,

I hear ya' with the lessons.  No ball in the world could have ever fixed my old slice.  I swear there were days I thought it was going to be like a boomer rang and come right back to the tee box.  Now that I have a solid swing, I have been out there trying to find that one golf ball that I will only carry.  I went out and played today with a regular ProV1 and decided that, based on my scores, putting, driver, irons and short game that the ProV1X is the best ball for me.  Happy hitting!

Greg, As a plus handicap player, I'll say this. There ARE a lot of very good golf balls on the market. My buddies throw Taylor's, srxn's, and cally's at me all the time. I've even played a few holes with the swoosh ball. For ME, it's not even a close race. And I am open-minded, believe me. There is nothing like the feel of a ProV1X, or ProV1 for that matter.......

I'm pretty much in the same boat as Edward K. I've sample oodles (yes, typed oodles) of balls and while performance can be similar the feel and sound are vastly different between brands.

I like this post a lot!

There indeed are many good golf balls on the market but there's only one #1 ball in golf! At one time, I did try out other golf balls but once my game experienced the results and feelings of a Pro V1, I have never looked back. This is the only ball I trust and feel confident playing.  I know and expect the ball I play to do certain things when I strike it.

In addition to the performance of the Pro V1, there's this truly emotional feeling of playing this ball!  No other equipment in the world makes me feel like the way I feel with Titleist!

You are 100% right!  When I hit a ProV1X (as is my case), I know what I can expect from the ball from driver to putter.  There really is no better feeling than being confident in the ball I play.  When I tee up other balls, I instantly compare them with Titliest brand balls, when in reality, there is no comparison.  When I made the switch to Titleist clubs, I was instantly happy.  I knew that I wasn't going to buy a set of irons or woods and then 6 months later a "new" version of the exact same thing would be coming out.  Titleist is unique in their innovation and their R and D goes a long way.

I was very fortunate to tour their Carlsbad club making facility a few years ago and it was a once in a lifetime experience.  I am proud to be a Team Titleist Member!

Our local golf shop is selling TM's premium golf ball for £19.99. Pro v's are twice the price and I walked out with 2 dozen 2015 pro v's. Nothing comes close in my eyes and teeing up a titleist has a definite psychological effect. Why change from playing the best.

I always go with the ProV1x. It is simply the best product on the market for me....and there is no other brand in 2nd place. My second place ball would be an next tour or prov1 depending on the course. I appreciate the research, customer feedback, loyalty rewards and on the course performance that Titleist provides.
