Please can I have some help and suggestions for which ball would be best to move too? I currently play 330rx and have played 330 rxs too. Both balls suit my game for distance and I'm generating green side spin and control. I've never played titleist before because I didn't think my swing was good enough, however, I am starting to shoot +13 to +17 rounds and feel I could now start considering these golf balls! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Pete

    Pete,

I suggest getting a sleeve of each (Pro V1 & Pro V1x) and do an on course comparison to see which works best for your game (all aspects of your game).

Best of luck as you work through the process,

    Barry

    Hi Barry

thanks for the advise, will try it out and see which works best! Out of interest what do you play and why?

  4. Peter, My advice to you is to buy a sleeve of both. Use one for a couple of rounds and then the other. Keep good stats on both(fairways hit,GIR's and putts, etc). And the "best ball wins"!!!!! steve b

will try this out and see which works best. out of interest which ball do you play and why?

  6. Peter, I play the PROV-1X. The reason I use them because they are long and relatively straight. My misses are not that far off. Also the 915 D2 driver helps on the miss-hits. I also love the feel around and on the greens. Chipping and putting are made so much easier with the PROV-1X. steve b

while I agree with the thought of buying a sleeve of each, for about the same cost, you could go get a ball fitting at one of the stores. Steve

Hi Stephen, what stores do this? I live in Southampton (UK) I have only been playing golf just over a year but never knew you could have a ball fitting?

    Pete,

I play the Pro V1x.  I like a slightly firmer ball, which is why I switched to the V1x a few years ago.  Although from what I've read lately the V1 and V1x are pretty close feel wise.  I also like the fact that it flies pretty straight off the driver with not much side spin.  Short game control is great and it's rolls really nice when putting (love the sound and feel off the putter face).  The best part for me though is that my scoring avg. has been better since changing.

Thanks Barry, seems the pro v1x is coming recommended from most people on here. I was just worried that being slightly harderwould not compress the ball as it should be, which would impact on the balls performance during my game?

think I definitely need to pick up a sleeve of both.

    thanks again pete

Pete, this link from Titleist may also help you chose between the two types. Good luck! http://www.titleist.com/golf-balls/Pro-V1-Pro-V1x.aspx#TotalPerformance

I've found the Pro V1x clearly performs better than any 2 piece or even mid-priced urethane balls, even though I'm not a low handicapper. On the Titleist online fitting my second choices are either the Pro V1 or NXT Tour. I have some -V1's and it would probably come to an arbitrary choice to decide which is better. I developed confidence with the -1x so I'm staying with that. Both good choices.

  14. I myself like the proV1 I think there long off the tee, and i think they exceptional feel around the greens!

Thanks Robert for mixing it up (argh haha)

going to try the pro V1 and 1x on the course and make a decision from there! Will def take the ball fitting sheet I've found on another post by titleist and see which one works for me

    THEN STICK WITH THE DECISION

    thanks all

I started playing the Pro V1 earlier this year, great ball. I then tried out the Pro V1x and saw I could spin it, so now i'm sticking with the Pro V1x because i see a distance increase.

    Hi sam

ive been questioning the whole 'am I able to compress, spin the pro v1x etc but the whole distance statement has brought me to the local golf shop and purchase a sleeve.

I am going to do as a lot of people have suggested play both balls and make a decision based on what I feel.

    thanks again for the input.

I've played the 330 series in the past and find them similar to the Titleist Prov 1 and 1x.

I currently use the Prov 1x and find that it is straight and still offers control around the greens.

The Bridgestone's are priced comparable to the Prov's.

The reason I use the Prov's:  I like the performance and there is always an offer of 4 dozen for the price of 3, with personalization or special numbers.  I have my name imprinted on them and I often have members at my club return my lost balls to me.

    That's a bonus

    Hi bogie

    thanks for the detailed reply.

It's interesting to see that you have played the bstone balls and I'm keen to know which you preferred.

i like RXS but notice a loss in overal distance, I currently play the RX and have started to generate spin on the greens with this ball, I found the 330S to be a good ball, however, I was getting mixed performance from this ball, probably because I could not sustain the swing speed/compression of the ball on all shots.

because I'm now connecting well in my golf shots I looking at changing to the titleist  and the pro V1 or V1X!  I want to keep the good distance I'm generating, hence why I'm looking at the pro v1x but at the same time concerned it may be like the 330s?

anyway now I've brought a sleeve of both I will find out.

    thanks again for the message

As far as the Prov's go, I occasionally play the Prov1 but primarily play the Prov1x.  I find that the 1x spins less sideways on a mishit - for me, slightly more forgiving in that aspect.

If it helps, my driver swing speed averages 102 mph.  That's at 80 %.  I can push it out to 106/7 but feel that I'm overswinging at that speed.  My 6 iron swing speed averages 83 mph, again at 80%.  (I was just on a Flightscope, outdoors, 3 weeks ago, so those numbers are accurate)

I have friends that play the NXT Tour and like it - swing speed is a bit slower than mine.

My spouse (plays 4 times a week) has a considerably slower swing speed than mine, also plays the NXT Tour (yellow) and really likes that ball.

Not sure what your swing speed is but you might want to try a sleeve of the NXT Tour since you're trying out new balls.

    Hope that helps

    Hi bogie

i have very similar swing speeds with driver but never seen what my irons are! I played both this weekend at my club and shot a solid +13 off yellows.

on first impressions I found the prov1x did fly higher than prov1 and with a higher than average ball flight I thought the proV1 worked better.

It's still way too early to make a decision.

anyway thanks again for the input

Peter - sounds like you have a plan of action, comparing the two balls against each other.

I too used to play the RX; switched to Pro V1x this year.  Iron stopping spin; from chips, pitches, short and even middle irons; is noticeably better.  I can routinely stop a V1x with a 6 iron whereas the RX would roll out a few yards.  My game has gotten better, too.  I think you will like either ball.
