  1. Hello, My name is Jacob Inukai. I am a low handicap about a plus 2. I am leaving to play college golf in the fall and need new irons. I love the look of the mb's and the feel of blades but my father who is a low handicap says I should get the cb's. I hit my irons flush most the time and love to work the ball. I need help to choose the right ones I would love to know peoples thoughts and  comments.

        Thank you, Jacob Inukai

Just food for thought. I did 3-7 CB and 8-P MB. The CB allows me to be able to work the ball and retain some forgiveness through the long and mid irons while really being able to dial in the short irons. Feel and distance gaps blend flawlessly also.

Just my 2 cents... i'm a 6 handicap and play the MB 712, my set of MB 714s are on order.  By far, the best blade out there, shaft is important.  If you are a 2 handicap, you will love the complete set of blades, control, no gaps, distance is superb, and best of all the feel!  i really don't know why more ppl don't hit blades, they are the club to swing!  just get the shaft right and knock those pins down!

    Jacob,

Personally, when you are talking about the CB and MB irons, and your handicap is as low as yours is, you should just go with the best feeling clubs.  A higher caliber player, such as yourself, relies a lot on comfort which has a lot to do with what shots you feel you are capable of pulling off.  I say pick the set that you feel most comfortable with and that will benefit your ball flight the most.  Just so you know, a lot of pros go with a combo set, so don't feel like you have to choose one model in your set.  Hope this helps.

  5. Who is paying for them you or your dad? That should also help make your decision albeit it sounds like you need MB's...

My guess is that is all in how you personally judge your game, by the quality of your solid shots or by the playability of your missed shots!

I believe the mb blade irons will give you more control vs anything cavity back. It is more of a precision tool. I think it is easier to control distance better with pure blades, too many times fire at a pin with cavity irons just to see it fly an extra 1/2 club or over the green. I feel I hit blades closer to the yardages or pin, more often than cavity back, under all conditions.

I understand the fear at first, of not being able to play such a club. I recommend that you take demo's of the 2 models to an outdoor range, warm up with your current sticks and then hit at least 20 balls with each. See what club you hit closer to the pin more often, at +2 I'm sure you will be very surprised in the results!

Before you get your new irons, talk to your coach as you may qualify (as a member of the golf team) to get them through your school.

I am a junior golfer and am about a 3 handicap (age 15) and I strongly believe you need to go get fitted for irons.  Being a player good enough to play in college you are probly very precise with yardages and fitters will tweak the specs and get you the right shaft to maximize distance and control.  I wouldn't go somewhere with only Titleist clubs though, be open to other brands.  I had Ap1's and loved them but went to a fitting and go fit for miz mp64's (which i love and would recommend trying). If you live in the southeast i went and got fit at a resort on st simons island in georgia called sea island (with craig as my fitter) and it was a wonderful experience. It is a little expensive but definatly worth it. They have all sorts of custom clubs and shafts to hit.  Best of luck in college!

Also if you stay at the resort at sea island you get unlimited golf included...there are three courses which are all very nice.  One is home of the McGladry Classic.

    Hope this helps!
