I have to say that I am extremely pleased with my new 714 AP2 irons. I switched during the off season from 710 AP1's to the AP2's. I was a little concerned about how I would perform with them but they have been great. Has anyone else had good or bad experiences with switching? Or is it common when going from the 1's to the 2's? Thank You. Brian F.

I made the switch last year from the original AP1's to 714 AP's, and I am glad I did. I can't perceive any loss of forgiveness, and I am much more comfortable with the smaller profile and less offset. I had originally planned to go with 714 AP'1s, but after hitting the AP2's, they felt too good to pass up. My only regret is going with the stock DG shafts. I was fit for the irons and they play just fine, but the shafts are heavier than in my old irons. But I ended up playing most of last year with tennis elbow pain. Now I'm struggling with whether or not to swap them out or stick with what's working. For now, the pain hasn't returned, so I'll probably hold out until it does.

I went from Ci9s to AP2s and it was an adjustment at first, but I love the forged clubs.

I had the 714 AP1's and switched to the 714 AP2's. Night and day difference for me. Weight and turf interaction on ap2 are perfect for me. AP2's are so forgiving also. Great iron, best I think they have ever made.

I switch from the 690 MBs to the AP2-714's and have not looked back. I love these irons.

Brian, I made the same switch two weeks ago, AP1s to AP2s.  I, too, was a bit concerned that I might not be quite talented enough to pull off the move but I've done so with no problems whatsoever.  I have Project X PXi shafts in them and I think they really suit my game.  I LOVE the feel of the forged AP2s.  Extremely happy with the change and will be a Titleist disciple for life :)

  7. I have been using a set of 712 AP2 irons with stock Dynamic Gold shafts for the past few years, but after testing the 714 AP1s with stock XP95 shafts, I am about to switch to the AP1s.

The big difference to me is not so much the club head itself but the shaft.

The Dynamic Gold shaft is low trajectory whereas the XP95 shaft is high trajectory.

So, to me, the selection of irons and shafts is all about swing speed.  My swing speed with irons is around 85 MPH and at that swing speed, a high trajectory shaft is preferable to a low trajectory shaft.  At higher swing speeds, the low trajectory shaft may be preferable.

I had also switched from the AP1's to the AP2's this year. I am happy I did. The 1's gave me a little higher flight than normally accustomed to which I knew would happen but thought I could manage. I thought getting older would make the adjustment easier but it was not the case. In the Midwest I need to keep the ball down on certain days and the AP2"s certainly allow better control. Both sets of irons are great so it is you personal preference. All I know is that my son is going to get a great used set of AP1's in the mail shortly.

Brain, I too played Ap1s both in Graf. And steel shafts I was fitt for both types and was playing once a week and middle to high seventies but as with all of us always looking to improve so, I revisited the fitter and we came up with ap2s built with 850nippon shafts . They are ,25 short in lenght,2degree flat and 2 degree strong loft. So what we built was ap1 specs with looks and feel of the ap2 s. I love these irons! Always I play on a senior freindly golf course which I live on and is very forgiving for us older guys but hope this helps Harry

Well I did the opposite, played AP2's for years thought might get a little more forgiveness out of the AP1's,  unfortunately I sold the ap2's and now have to buy a new set. The offset and visual difference is not for my game. Forged is all I ever played in the past and all I will ever play in the future.

I'm switching from off the shelf 714 AP1s to fitted 714 AP2s (bent 3 degrees upright and XP95 Stiff shafts). Placed the order last week.

After this weekend, i'm pretty confident in my ball striking so I'm excited to see how much better the AP2s will be. They feel great when struck well is all I can say after going through a fitting session.

I am so glad you brought this up. I have also been contemplating the switch for 710 ap1 to 714 ap2s. This makes me feel better and hope it works out your game.

It has turned out to be the best investment I made. I used to cringe when grabbing anything other than my 7 iron, but now that I have used the 714 AP2's for 4 rounds, I have no problems using any of the irons. Before I purchased the 710's, I had Taylor Made RAC irons with were good but gave me way too high of a ball flight and inconsistent distances. You won't think twice getting them, I didn't. Brian
