I have this "dream" to be able to pick up newly released equipment every year and I was wondering if anyone else does this. Currently (with where I am financially), I try to keep stuff in my bag that is no longer than two releases behind (e.g. 913s, 714s & SM4s or 5s). I usually can sell my old equipment and add my "savings" with the profit to upgrade but still haven't been able to purchase the newest release. I'm hoping to get to that level of purchasing in the next couple years, but just wanted to pick everyone else's brain to see if it's even an attainable goal. I hope I explained it clearly! Thanks for the help team.

Easy to update your bag when needed. I do wedges every year. And irons/woods when I have hit them and been fitted. Only replace clubs if the new ones better your situation.

Personally, you're not gonna wear anything out, except maybe a wedge you constantly practice with. It's nice to constantly upgrade, don't get me wrong, but I only saw a few yards gained for that last 3 cycles. Still hit the irons the same as 10 years ago. Great clubs with new technology, but I haven't seen any gains enough to justify it. New wedges every year, irons every 3rd cycle, driver when I just wanna try something new.

I have a hard time replacing clubs every year except wedges. I get comfortable and confident and dont like to have to re-earn those feelings with new clubs

I have been, but that is in part my fault. I was living the dream I could add speed - but I'm in my late 60's so with my last fittings I went for the clubs that acknowledge my leveling/declining speed. So this year, I'm investing in TPI focused exercising and with my pro on minimizing my misses. When I sell my 716's/917's, I don't want to be able to list them as "like new". Since Titleist advances their designs and doesn't go off in new directions every year, I expect that I can start going to alternate releases.

I always like to have the newest Titleist equipment in the bag. Whenever the new woods and irons come out I put them into play. It is probably excessive, but I enjoy having the newest technology available. That puts irons and woods on an alternating two year cycle as they are released and, like Tim, the wedges are replaced more frequently. The Scotty is the only club that has had a longer shelf life in my bag.

I would LOVE to upgrade every year but wife ain't having that.. Also I don't play enough each year to warrant new clubs.. That's one great thing about Titleist though, they release clubs every 2 years so you have the time to enjoy what you buy unlike other companies...

The clubs i have now will, should last me another 2-4 years...

I replace my woods and irons at every release. Wedges get replaced 3-4 times a year. The only constant is my putter, it has been in the bag for about 7 seasons.

I get new equipment around the following timeline.

    Driver/Wood: 5 years (skip a release)
Hybrid/Irons: 5 years (start of or at the end of 2 releases)
    Wedges: 50° & 54° (2 years) 58° (every year)
  10. Your right, financially it is a task to stay up to date with new equipment of any variety. The great thing IMHO is that Titleist has everything on two year cycles. Thus, you can save and know what will be needed every year vs. updating everything in the bag potentially all the time... Great that Titleist is ahead of the curve! (Driver/Fairways/Balls this year followed by Irons, Wedges and Hybrids (if applicable) the following year; Putters are updated annually depending on which type you prefer)

Not every year, but usually every other Titleist model release for irons, and every new release for driver, woods and hybrids. Upgraded from AP2-712s last year to AP2-716s. Changed from 913H to 816H. FWs are 915 and am considering 917s. Drivers have been upgraded as they are released. Started with 909, then 910, 913, 915 and now shopping for 917 after fitting at a Titleist Thursdays a couple weeks ago. Only thing I don't change out regularly is my Scotty Newport 2 Select. At $400 for a club that just has to tap a ball somewhat squarely, I'll stick with it until something is released with laser-guided gps hole targeting!
  12. Agree with TT. Wedges should be replaced most often (75-100 rounds). It all depends on your budget of course, but changing irons or driver every new product cycle is very expensive and any gains likely marginal if you are properly fit for your current bag.

Kinda agree with Tim. Do not always go with new releases. If I am playing real well with a club, as the saying goes "if it ain't broke, no need to fix it". May go to a fitting though with my old club and do a comparison and if the new club shows no improvement, the old one stays in the bag. That is what a fitter is for. Take advantage of the Titleist Thursdays. That fitter will tell you what you need or do not need. Trackman does not lie................................

Agree completely with Tim. Maybe splurge more on your next purchase (get fitted add some customization) to help you feel the value of holding on to your gear until you really want or your game NEEDS new equipment.

Don't just replace to replace...sometimes if it's working for you an "older" club in the bag is fine. Kind of like Linus and his security blanket! (Do kids even get Peanuts references?)

The feedback has been great. I REALLY would love to take advantage of a Titleist Thursday event some day. I think that would give me a lot of confidence that I am playing the "right" equipment (no matter the age) or I will know which equipment I need.
