I have read the rules and have a pretty good understanding, the grip is not considered the butt end of the putter. I still cant wrap my head around why M.K. putting method is acceptable. He clearly sets, pinches, stabilizes, aka anchor's the grip all the way up his left forearm. If i remember correctly Adam S. really putt pressure on the anchored putter b/c he started winning so much. Does M.K. just not win enough to bring it to the table?

M.K. makes a stroke with the club vs anchoring the butt in your stomach or chest and allowing the club to swing like a pendulum. That's the difference.

If you think about what an anchor does, it is one point (ship anchor, or butt end of the club), that allows the anchor chain to sway freely in the water... the chain is like the putter shaft/head being allowed to sway back and fourth during the stroke, while the butt end remains "anchored". Pinning the grip against the forearm doesn't allow the same freely swaying motion of the club, as the motion is now tied to the shoulder rotation.

Think of it like this... a ball and chain were tied around your ankle vs. your leg in a splint.

Well said Robert, "Pinning the grip against the forearm doesn't allow the same freely swaying motion of the club, as the motion is now tied to the shoulder rotation." I am just a sponge for this game! Cant get enough !
