I need your help in driver shaft recommendations. I have been to a fitting and have an idea of what I need, but am not familiar with all the different options out there, plus your input of what works for you and your testimony is always beneficial.

I play the 913D2, possibly going to move to 917D2 soon. I currently use the Aldila Tour Green, Stiff because I naturally have a high ball flight this shaft helps keep the ball down to a mid flight. My driver swing in 100-105mph with a normal carry of 260yards.

I have been having a difficult time with a high spin rate, which I don't know if I can relate to the shaft? There have been a lot of balls going right on me lately which is out of the norm as I usually hit a draw/hard draw. I would prefer to keep the draw shot as my primary as it fits my eye and usually is more predictable. However lately when lining up to hit a draw the ball spins hard out to the right?

Any ideas for fixing, what works best for you?

It sounds like your swing has gotten a bit too steep with a bit of an out-to-in path.

The steeper swing will promote higher spin rates. I suggest you see your local PGA Pro for a swing tune-up.

I think I would follow his advice. The pros know their stuff and can administer quality fixes and advice. Testimonials are semi-good to marginal, because what I get from my shaft is not going to work for you because our numbers will not be the same and neither will our swings. Once you get a fitting from a "certified fitter" go with it and trust it. You can always back to them for a tune up. Trackman don't lie. If I say on this site that I really like the new irons and hybrids and recommend that you should go try them, that is a testimonial that I like the new clubs. I would never recommend a set up, because I am not a trained fitter. With respect. CZ
  4. During my fitting for the 917 driver, the Aldila Tour Green was one of the recommended shafts for me based on my preferences of feel, and performance numbers. I liked the feel of a shaft w/ a higher kick point like the Diamana white board. I was launching and spinning the ball higher than desired w/ my attack angle +4 (launch 16*, spin 3k). The fitting resulted in an Oban Devotion 6 shaft, which had the feel I was looking for w/ a lower torque, and dropped my launch and spin down to something more desirable. This is the shaft I'm currently playing. Check it out... obviously I was fit for it, and might not work for you...

I have previously tested quite a number of premium shafts - Tour AD MJ, Diamana Red, Attas 6Star - to name a few. Finally, I found the one that suits me, the Diamana BF. But this exercise was 'trial and error' and very costly.

My advice is get a good fitter that can possibly let you have access to a variety of demo shafts. All the best !
