  1. I first learned when I was little, but I recently restarted practicing and plan on getting a full iron set. The 718 is about $200 more expensive than the 716 and wasn't sure whether it is worth getting it. I am just playing for fun and I wouldn't mind getting a new set once I get more into golf. 716 or 718? New or used club? Any suggestion appreciated.

IMO, i would get fitted by a certified Titleist fitter in your area and buy new... I wouldn't buy used ONLY b/c the clubs might not be for you and could be a struggle to play with.

Just my 2 cents and wish you the best of luck with your choice!

Claire. Go with what fits your budget. Some of us like the latest stuff but previous model are still good. It's kind of like cars. Some people only buy used cars and drive them a long time and others have to have the new ones. I'm a new car guy.

Unless your fun exceeds 15 rounds per year, the stock 716s will be as useful at the 2018s. The only problem buying "off the rack" is you might need a different mix of hybrids and irons than a full set of irons. That's when a fitting helps. It is more fun when you can successfully hit all the clubs in your set. For me, buying a 4-P set would frustrate me. I can't hit a 3 and 4 iron as far as a 6 iron, and a 5 iron is debatable. While a customized set is the same price per club as a rack set, they can only be ordered in the current version.

I would encourage you to get properly fitted. That is more important than the choice between the 716 and the 718. If your clubs are not fitted to you, it will be much harder for you to improve and the enjoyment will be sucked out of the game.

Your club fitter / PGA Professional will be very competitive, or at least they should be, with pricing. While you may pay a few $$$ more for a new, fitted set of clubs it will be well worth it in the long run.
