    Hi all,

I currently have 716 AP2’s and sm6 wedges in 50, 54 and 58 degrees. I am thinking of changing to AP3’s for more consistency and distance but am worried about the gap at the lower end. What would you do?

You can get the 44 PW set to 45 degrees, and/or the 50 wedge bent to 49 degrees. You can also accommodate distances by choking down on the shaft or taking a 3/4 swing. Pros are all over the place from 4 wedges at 4 degrees to 2 wedges at 6 degrees of separation. If you have a 100 yard 50 degree and a 110 yard PW, wouldn't you adjust for a 105 yard shot?

I made the same exact switch this summer. Traded my 50 for a 48, and had my 54 bent to 53, and I left my 58 alone. 5 degree gaps were perfect for me. Good luck!

    Hi Stephen,
The AP3 are strong lofted as you see. The W club or its approach wedge that it comes with in the set is at 48*
In the past, the wedges my set came with for some reason were longer than my Vokey wedges. Although they're not Titleist at the time and weren't professionally fitted, but I would suggest for you to hit the AP3 W(48*) club next to your 50* on a demo day or Titleist Thursday and see it first before going to different lofts.
I'm also considering the AP3 and I can't wait to try it out.
    Good luck with your search.

I usually like the iron set gap wedges, so, I have the AP3 gap wedge - 48 degree. plus a 52 sm6, and, a 58 sm5. If you love your sm6, then, it is a little tougher, but, you could always upgrade to the SM7's.
  6. I got my ap3's (5-pw) bent 1 degree weak. My 3,4 irons are T-MB and vokeys are 50 54 58.

Bending the ap3 1 weak should line up the lofts decent with the T-MB long irons as well as my current wedges. I will see this spring how it works out.
