Ap2 Falling Apart

Baxterbarret

I was fit and purchased my 718 ap2s last November. Being from Michigan, I have only been able to play 3-4 rounds with them so far. I played last Sunday and went to clean my clubs tonight. This is what is happening to my 5 iron. I hope titleist will make this right. Plan to call tomorrow.

Thats a simple warranty fix! Just give them a call. By the way, I have had multiple sets of AP2's over the years and never seen such a problem every!

Called the place where I bought my clubs. Titleist should be sending me a new 5 iron. I'm a little upset this club broke, but am happy Titleist is making it right. (I played my 755's for 10 years. They are still ready to go in my basement.)

Have had a number of sets of Titleist irons. Have never seen that issue before. Glad to see they took care of it for you. Great customer service.

Wow! That is unfortunate. Titleist is really good when it comes to manufacturer's defects. I'm still gaming my 712 AP2's, and they still look great! The only problem I have is the "712", and the "Forged" black paint coming off. As long as you clean them after every round they should last for a while! Good luck with your new 5 iron!

Unfortunate but as I would have expected Titleist has taken care of it through the warranty.

Are you submerging them in water while you're cleaning them? You can't do that with these new multi-piece head clubs.

Customer service at Titleist is A1. Really take care of their customers. T/T’er for as long as I can swing a club.

Todd......I have not heard about this! "Are you submerging them in water when you clean them? You can't do that with these new multi-material clubs." Where did you get this information from?

Yes, I've also heard it here from the concierge a recommendation not submerge the club in water with possible corrosion at the hosel and also to prevent damage- multi-part heads like the AP1/AP2.

Just a light nylon brush or a damp towel and wipe dry should be good enough.

You never have to worry when the name Titleist is on it!

    Jerry,
I heard this about 10 years ago. I had the 2008 AP1s and had been cleaning them after each round in a scrub bucket at the course. Someone asked about cleaning and the answer was the the various cavities were not sealed to prevent water from getting inside which could cause rust and weaken the club. I stopped submerging them and now use a damp old towel and immediately dry them after each round. I'm sorry that I can't remember the source of the advise but they say that the mind is the first to go. Fairways and greens.

Extreme Hot/Cold is bad for any glue, epoxy included. Failure to properly store clubs or playing in 40 degree weather falls into this category. There is no whining in golf, please do not start a trend. If it was indeed a manufacturing issue, we all know Titleist will make good on it. Claiming you are “a little upset” falls into the whining category. Your fallback plan of returning to your 755’s is also a BAD idea, but if you demand less forgiveness & like losing 10 yards, by all means, fire away! Next time simply call customer service, please do not create another whiny post. Thanks & ENJOY your awesome golf clubs!
