  1. Hi All- I just got fitted for a driver but having a tough time deciding on which flex to get.

So I went to get fitted at the Golf Galaxy and I got some pretty good numbers on the D+ 72 whiteboard with the 913 D2. Using the foresight machines they had, my avg SS was 103.2 with 95.2 min and 107.7 max.  Knowing that these SS numbers are generally lower than Trackman, any recommendations if I should stick to S or go for the X flex?

Do you think it would make a big difference?

    THANKS

I would say all you would need is a stiff. i use x stiff but i swing over 120 mph.  for 110 and down stiff should be fine

  3. alright thanks for that input. I am trying to work on increasing my clubhead speed but I think yea I will go with Stiff for now and see if it makes sense to switch out later.

Based on studies, a vast majority of golfers have a shaft too stiff.  If you were fitted using a S with good numbers, more bad things can come from an arbitrary decision to go with X.  if you aren't sure, find an outdoor Advanced Fitting Center and have a pro work with you on both shafts.  A replacement stock shaft is likely $150 or more, and most AFCs will fit and sell the driver for the same or not much more than the GG price for the driver.

  5. Thanks Don. I wouldn't say I was arbitrarily making a decision to go to X, more so that I am on the borderline between that 100-110 range and everything I've read so far says to go with X above 105.  But totally understand and that is a good point, I may go back and try out an AFC and switch out shafts at a later point.

    Much thanks!

  6. sorry- 1 more thing to add I realize may not have been clear.  I was hitting the diamana D+ in S-flex and then later tried the R1 with the matrix 7m3 X-flex and was also hitting it pretty solidly...hence my indecision, even though I like the 913D2 better!

Hi,  Advanced fitters and surefit cart fitters should have the +D in an X flex as well as the S flex.  I would recommend hitting the X flex in the 913 to check your numbers and to watch the ball flight.  Your clubfitter should be able to help you make a decision between the S and the X.  Please note that we do not tip the S+ or the D+ shafts, so here is another option.  You can tip the D+ shaft an 1" which in that shaft will give you about 1/3 of a flex.
  8. Dear 913 buyer:

Shaft fit is everything--in a driver especially. I'm a Canadian club fitting specialist with several years of experience at Canada's largest golf retailer. I have extensive experience playing X-Flex shafts (currently the Motore Speeder 7.2 TS X in my driver), as well as fitting my customers for such shafts. Part of my day involves fitting golfers on the Foresight GC2 launch monitor. You're correct that the Foresight numbers for SS are off a bit versus Trackman. Based on what you've written, and with all due respect to the other posters, DO NOT discount an X-Flex at this point. What matters far more than raw speed numbers are ball flight, spin, launch, consistency, and feel. A X-Flex that does not suit a golfer will generally result in inconsistent, weak, low, and poor feeling miss shots that favour the right side (for righties). If, however, your launch and spin were better with the X, you didn't mind the firmer tip feel, and your dispersion was tighter, then the X-Flex is definitely your shaft. Finally, the Whiteboard D+ is not an overly stiff shaft, in my opinion, no matter what flex you try it in. If you plan to get stronger in the future, I worry that the D+ will eventually play too soft. Two suggestions if you still want to go with a stiff: (a) upgrade to the Diamana D-Series (original whiteboard) or the A'hina (second generation.), in at least a 70-gram model; or (b) get Titleist to "tip" the D+ series a half an inch more than they normally do (so 1" total). Option (b), especially, will give your S-Flex more teeth. You could also buy the D+ in an 80-gram model.

Good luck, I hope the advice is helpful!
