I have a set of 714 AP2 irons that were reshafted with Nippon Pro Modus 3 Tour 120 X flex.  I also added a 1/4 inch when I reshafted and changed to a New Decade grip (lighter than standard).  They are now at D6 SW which is a little high for me but playable...I just can't do anything that will make the SW go ANY higher.  I don't want to change to a different grip or length.

I am considering soft stepping them once to get a little more flexible and then trimming the butt to keep the same playing length.  I am just wondering how much it will increase or decrease the SW by doing this.  I'm guessing it will change since trimming more from the butt will slightly change the balance point of the shaft.

I know it will only be a slight change, but I want to know if it is higher SW or lower SW that it will cause.

    Thanks,

    Adam

Adam as long as you are cutting back to th same length the swingweight will really not change. Balance point needs to move more than 1/2" to change swingweight by any noticeable amount. Go ahead and make the change.
