  1. Hi,

Could someone please help my letting me know what the swing weight would be for my set of standard length 718 AP2 5-9 with AMT TOUR WHITE X100 shafts, with a 50.5g grip?

Is the swing weight constant in each club or different due to the ascending mass shafts?

Also, what about a 718 T-MB 4 iron same shaft and grip?

    Thank you in advance

    Thank you very much!

  2. I hear loads of people on about swing weights here. What exactly is it and what does it mean to the golfer.

Go to your local golf club store or club fitting place. Ask to see a swingweight scale and bring in a few of your clubs. You'll quickly understand what a swingweight scale attempts to measure.

The target swing weight is D-2 and is the same for each club in the set- the difference in shaft weights throughout the set would be factored in within the determination of the head weight required to build the set to the D-2 target- there would be a manufacturing tolerance typically +/- one point.

For RKelly the following is a brief explanation of swing weight:

Swingweight is not an absolute measurement of weight but rather a representation of the relationship between the amount of weight in the bottom two thirds of a golf club compared to the top third of a golf club.

From a players perspective this translates to how the weight of the club "feels" during a players swing. If the club is too heavy the player will find it hard to swing and will tire during the round. Conversely a club that is too light will be harder to control and keep on the correct path throughout the swing.

In both cases an incorrect swingweight for an individuals swing and tempo will lead to increased off centre strikes and inconsistent results.
