Ive always looked at the back of the ball, but recently started looking at the front of the ball on long and mid irons and it seemed to help me hit crisper and more down on the ball.  I was interested to see what others do or have seen others do.

I always look at the back of the equator of the ball and I try to strike it in the middle of the face of the club.

I have never really thought about what part of the golf ball I look at. If I had to say where I look before swinging and while I'm swinging the golf club would have to be the back of the ball. I want to make sure that I swing and hit the back of the ball so I can solid contact. That is a very good question and I'll have to see where I'm looking when I play golf again.

Slightly inside the back of the ball. If you're mis-hitting shots, check your eye contact first. Mr. Hogan taught me to "see the ball disappear".

Fred, this really works! After we played Cedar Crest, I have been trying to do that and I've seen a slight improvement. Thanks for the tip!

I read this about 20 years ago and it always has helped me.  I teach my guys to pick out a dimple on the top of the ball.  Now instead of hearing the 'fat' shots I hear the click of a good ball striker.

I never really thought about what part of the ball I look at but on the driver, I look at the back of the ball because I like to picture hitting a nail into the back of the golf ball.

I have also started looking at the front of the ball.  I heard a pro talking about it when hitting out of fairway bunkers and it seemed to work.  I seem to hit long irons more crisp.

I see the ball as a hindrance....When I address the ball all I think about is my target and the ball is in the way of my swing....When I'm working the ball (fade, draw) I think about the exit path but never the ball itself....

I used to look at the back of the ball for every shot.  But I found that i was hit a lot of my irons fat.  I now look at the front of the ball on all of my iron shots.  This helps me hit down on the ball and make sure I hit the ball first.  I shift my focus to the back of the ball on my woods and my driver.  I agree with what was said above, watch the ball disappear.  I still struggle with that at times.

I look 3/4 back of the ball.   Leading edge sits about 1/4 under the size of the ball so I try to look where the leading edge sits.
