Like a group of sailors lost at sea, We've been keeping a eye out for the potential of playing golf here in northern New England.  While my prospects don't look good for an April tee time, I've heard rumors that courses in southern New England are opening up.  Some of us northerners were thinking about making a treck down to CC, CT or RI for some golf on the 19th.

What I'd like to know is twofold:

    1. Does anyone know a good (loose definition) track that's got 18 open holes?

    2. Wanna join us?

Shennecosset in Groton CT, Lyman Orchards Player course (Middlefield, CT),  Winnapaug (Westery RI), Newport National.  It's still damp down here, but courses are slowly opening up.

And I'd definitely be interested in joining up with you guys!

Played Newport National on Saturday last weekend and it was in really good shape early season.  $55 walking only and other than the crazy windy conditions on the day it was nice out there.  Good price and great shape for early in season.

Lake of Isles North Course is now open as well.  April promotion available:  play first round (Sunday-Saturday) at prevailing rate, and come back for second round (Mon-Thurs) free.  Second round must be played before April 30.

Josh - sorry I just saw this...Some of the courses are open, but they can be a bit soggy this time of year.

    Did you end up playing?

I did make it out, but we ended up heading North of all places.  Scottish Highland in Salem NH was open and in good shape.  It's a links style course that gets a lot of sun.  I ended up playing with Chris H from TT.  We both played well considering, and Speedy closed out a victory with a clutch couple of putts coming down the stretch.  It's always great to get that first round of the year under the belt.
