Well this afternoon I'm going to see someone who is TPI certified level 1.. Looking forward to seeing what he has to say and where I need to increase my flexibility... I tried doing yoga the other night, yeah it wasn't a pretty site and my family had a good laugh... Watching that yoga teacher, I had no idea bodies could bend that far...

Has anyone else done a TPI evaluation and did you find it useful?

Speedy...let us know how your evaluation goes. Maintaining flexibility, range of motion and strength are the keys as we age!

At 67, the assessment covered mobility from hips to shoulders. The top (but not only) issue was hip flexibility, Since my TPI guru is at a health club, I do have additional sessions and I work with him every 2-3 weeks on progress and adjusting the routine I do on my own. The improvements are dramatic. I'm at least a club longer at 67 than at 65 and with better core conditioning, more consistent, especially through an entire round.

I have been working with a TPI level 3 trainer/bio metrics coach for about 3 months now. When we started, he took me thru a 2 hr evaluation of physical fitness, flexibility and also a swing sequence analysis. From that, he developed a program specifically for me beginning with core stability and range of motion. We have recently changed the routine to add power and speed drills while continuing the stability/flexibility exercises. We work together twice a month in his studio. I have seen some good changes in my body, looking forward to the continued benefits going into the spring.

Highly recommend this type of program.

yes, it was very useful. I don't know how you think about the golf swing, but, it was enlightening to me to learn that various body part movements actually affect the golf swing. Some stuff was easier to improve on, than others. I need to work on my range of motion on my shoulders.

Hi Speedy ... I've been working with a TPI Fitness instructor over the past 3 years now and I have found it very helpful. The initial assessment is to basically establish a "base" to see how you move and what your capabilities are in terms of your body movement, including flexibility, strength, etc.

Once I completed this, we started developing a program to improve my range of motion, my flexibility, my core strength, with some cardio in there as well.

Perhaps someone form TPI or a TPI fitness instructor will be able to clarify and add to this! Regardless, there are many good "takeaways" for me in this experience but, if there was one that I could share with others it is to enjoy the process! All the best Speedy!

Speedy can you enlighten me as to what TPI is?
  10. I did this a few weeks ago. I enjoy the stretching and golf-specific exercises, and feel this will benefit my games. Some muscles/movements are just rarely used in my relatively sedentary job.

Good idea Speedy to go see an expert. I also got a TPI evaluation in mid December. My results were poor and just reinforced how sedentary my body had become.

I started to work out with a Level 2 certified instructor just before Christmas. The workouts have been tough but I am starting to see progress in all aspects of life. Strength, Flexibility, endurance.

Keep us up to date on how your progress is going.

I went through it about 10 years ago and thought it made a huge difference in my golf game. I still do many of the exercises they gave me and go to TPI’s website daily. I think so much of the process that I plan to go through it again this summer.

I hope you find it as helpful as I did.
