  1. I know that I'm definitely not alone in this.... It seems to happen every year here in upstate NY (basically Montreal Canada, that far north). For the last couple weeks its been 20*-40* at times, and I can see the grass, but we're expecting like 4-8' on Wednesday. Just when you think "hey maybe we'll have an early start", like early March and then always a late storm just kills us.

It seems like Spring is so close, but so far away.....

What are you guys doing golf wise to stay from going crazy? Personally I'm on forums most of my free time, trying to get into our golf simulators every 2 weeks or so, and about to order an indoor putting mat. Lastly trying to get my bag set for the start of the season, any needed tweaks, or small changes etc.

What are you guys doing to help pass these awful months?

  2. I agree...Ohio has been tough this winter! I have the "orange whip" training tool going!!

Minus 10* F here again this morning. There's a lot of winter left for us. I'm putting at home and will soon bring my putter to the office where the carpet runs 12-13 on the stimp. At noon I'll go hit balls for 20-25 minutes in the little range we have set up in the bag room at our club. Tomorrow morning flying to Fort Myers, FL, clubs in tow. Forecast in the low 80's sounds wonderful!

Winters always suck for me. My two hobbes are golf and Harleys.
I just started a 10 week lesson at Golf Tec were I get to hit balls indoors at least twice a week with instruction.
It was the only way I was gonna make it to spring.

In CT played 2 times this winter...do much rust, so little yards on shots! Looking forward to the outdoor range in the worst way. Us North Easters can only dream for now.

Hey Ryan M, not much better here at the Jersey Shore. But we have been able to squeeze a few rounds in here and there. Even if they are on frozen greens. Better than no golf at all. Rain here for Wed. Hopefully 18 on Sat. C'mon April!!
    Play Well,

I’ve been hitting whiffle golf balls into my neighbor’s yard. He’ll complain when the snow melts and he finds them. ;-)
  8. Calling for snow and ice here in Western PA for Wednesday. Depressing!

Totally depressing. My best friend lives in Phoenix, and I watched the WMPO and I was green with envy. Currently 15 in NE Ohio with another lake effect snow warning for tomorrow morning. Looking forward to March 9th, when I host the annual indoor golf fundraiser for the High School golf team I coach. Then I look to April 1st when we take a family vacation to Phoenix. It can't come soon enough!

I'm in the south end of Lake Michigan getting lake effect snow batches a couple of times a week. It melts away and a few days a week we are under another blanket of snow. Working on my putting, just bought a Putt Out.

I'm in the Western NC mountains and it has been the worst start to a Winter in the 16 years we've been here full time. The few days that temps have been close to good rain has been the story. I spend my time tinkering in the workshop with clubs or pitching and putting in my rec room.
  13. Normally I would commiserate with you, but it has been in the 50's in Salt Lake lately with very little snow this year. I played Saturday AND Sunday last weekend. As soon as I hit the lottery, I'm moving where I can play year round.

Hey, Ryan M, my wife is from Malone, NY. When we were young newlyweds, I'd spend enjoyable parts of the fall and winter chasing feathered birdies, and bunnies, in that beautiful North Country snow. Lemonade from lemons, eh?

I gather you're closer to Plattsburgh? Ever play the twin courses in Malone?

We now live near Buffalo, btw, so my poor wife jumped from the frying pan into the fire.

That's cool And yes your correct I'm in Plattsburgh, and my wife is from Chatteguay which is like 10 minutes from Malone. Your wife will definitely know where that is.

And yes I've played Malone quite a bit usually very early in the season. I play in a 2 day stroke tourney there called The Masters North, with guys waaaaay out of league but it's fun a tournament. It's great little spot, with great practice facility, and club house, and the 2 courses are always in great shape. Derek Sprague use to be the head pro and then was President of the PGA of America. He did great things for that course.

Yeah the North Country is great area 7-8 months out of the year lol.

Well hopefully we're both playing sooner than later!!!

You are not alone. Just as the snow starts to melt we get hit with more here in New England. I don't mind it for skiing, but it's clearly no good for golf.
We just hit the simulator last weekend, and now I'm jonesing for the real thing...
    Think spring!

Winter sucks for this southerner too. Rain and cold, not as cold as the north but cold for here.

Winter is hanging on here in northeast PA! We were seeing some grass about 2 weeks ago, then it snowed a few inches, then rain, then more snow! Solid ice everywhere! Might get into the 40's for the next several days so, hopefully, the snow will be history. I'm tired of putting in the living room and working out the kinks with my Power Swing fan!

Hey Ryan, Just head over to the McSweeney's, get a couple Michigans buried, and before you know it you'll be teeing it up for real.
That's what I'd do if I was back home.
    Go Duke!
