I am a 68 y/o and have a 16.7 HC index. I currently use DT Solo. I have always been an avg., "Fred Funk" type of distance w/ 90 to 95 MPH swing speed. What does the team recommend for a ball.

You're using a really good ball to begin with, but it never hurts to try others to see if they might help your game. Try buying a sleeve of the NXT Tour, NXT Tour S, Pro V1 and Pro V1x and take each ball type out and see how it performs for you during a round...compare & contrast each with what you are currently using. It's the best way I know to find the best ball for your game, short of going to a ball fitting session.

I think the most underestimated ball around is the Titleist NXT Tour S golf ball! It delivers great high-performance characteristics and a significant soft feel. Give it a try, see what you think.I too am a senior and its what Im now playing! Love it.
  4. Give the NXT Tour S a shot, you will like it. I agree with Kevin B "It delivers great high-performance characteristics and a significant soft feel".

Absolute nothing wrong with the DT. I would recommend trying out the NXT Tour. Very solid all around ball for the price.

Tom I'm 69 and go through a spring ball selection every year as Barry B suggests. I get a sleeve of everything Titleist makes and spend a few weeks making a choice.

I played NXT Tours for a while and then last year switched to Pro V1x for a little higher launch. This year I decided to stay with the x because it feels better than the others did at the start of the season, my swing speed runs from 90 to 95 as well.

Is there something about your current ball that you don't like? What performance are you trying to improve with a different ball? What type of feel do you like in the ball?

I know, more questions than answers but if you were in my shop this is the discussion we would be having.

I am 70 and really like the DT Trusoft. It seems to spin a little more around the greens. Keep playing as much as you can. Good luck.

It depends on what part of your game is the strongest. Most of the balls are close in distance off the tee, some are better near and around the green and putting. Grab a sleeve of each and test for yourself.

Is there anywhere you can get fit for a particular ball by Titleist? I would go that route. I like to trust numbers.

Titleist does offer ball fitting events which are posted periodically on this site in the fitting tab. Sometimes they are also offered at Team Titleist events as well

Going on 73 and still hitting the Prov1. Handicap 14.3. Swing speed 93, ball speed 132, and spin 1800-2200. That is the ball I use during my fittings. Have hit the AVX, Tour Soft, Prov1x, Velocity, well the whole line and this is the ball for me.
Tee to green. Every part of the game of golf is a personal thing. Just one opinion.

Chuck... With years comes wisdom. Just go out and enjoy the game with the ball that you love to hit.

I do. Titleist fit me a few years ago with the Prov1 and it seems to fit the game I love so well. Am enjoying it three to four days a week. Have moved up to the senior tees and enjoying it more. My doctor's say I am blessed to be able to go out a play as much as I do and to enjoy it.

Best way is to go to a ball fitting event. If that's not available, you can get a sleeve of each and try them for yourself.
Also, check this ball selector site from Titleist

    www.titleist.com/golf-ball-fitting-tool

I personally started with the DT solo (now called the DT Trusoft) after I tested a sleeve of all the balls Titleist offers.
Great ball but I was not getting the distance I wanted and chipping and putting was just OK, needed a little more feel.
I found the AVX gave me better distance, softer feel and overall, I was very satisfied it is the ball for me.

I am sure there is a ball for you! Good luck.
