No Jay, Titleist would not put inferior shafts in any of their equipment. Titleist Thursday’s are great and they have tons of shaft options that they can use to get you fit in your optimal set up.

This is an ongoing discussion in the equipment junkie world. The argument says "if the made for shaft is so good, why is the "same shaft" on the manufacturers website $350?" The answer is that quite often, they are different shafts, but it's not as drastic as the hundreds of threads on WRX would have you believe.

The shafts that the OEM puts in their clubs are good shafts and if you're fit into one then play it and remember that you don't hit the ball with the writing on the shaft. When you encroach on tour type swing speeds (110+), you're going to find that you really start see the benefits of the "real deal" shafts. The characteristics of the two are actually different, but the "Made for" vs. Aftermarket debate has been blown way out of proportion and will continue on until the end of time.

The best solution is always to get fit without any bias towards anything. If you forget about pre-conceptions and cost, and just let the fitter do his thing, you'll get a club that just plain works and that is the ONLY goal of a golf club - to work for you. You'll find that the stock offerings - especially from Titleist - work really well a lot of the time.
