I'd love to see what one of these "combo green repair-spike tightener-loop tools" looks like, sounds awesome!

Would be handy if they still made them so we could see if modern balls become misshapen at all.

Those were sweet golf balls. Talking about feel, forged irons hitting these balls. The Best!

When I played Titlest balatas, I carried a combo green repair-spike tightener-loop tool. The loop was used to check to see when the ball was out of round, as it often was after 98-9 250 yard drives, which was ginaormous in the 50's.

You had to hit them perfectly every time or else a lot of sidespin or a 'Smile" if you hit it thin. Even going into a bunker would scuff it.

It's a Tour Balata, it says it on the box and the sleeve. The Professional is a completely different ball.

If those are old black titleist they were rated 100 compression. Black name with red number were 90 compression. All red were 80 compression.

Titleist Professional 100 compression; It's a wound ball with a very thin balata cover.It came in 90 and 100 compression, with the 100 the firmer feeling of the two.I played those a lot. If I had to guess a time frame it would be early to mid 90's.
