Just heard on the Titleist podcast that starting July 19 there will be a trial run of the Pro V1 left dot to purchase. I think it’s great that Titleist continues to bring some of the different versions of the Pro V1 and Pro V1x to market. The more options the better in my opinion.

    Thank you Titleist!

Can you share some of the charateristics that make this ball different from the others?

According to the podcast I listened to, the left dot will fly lower and spin less than standard Pro V1 but compared to AVX will have more spin in the short game, say 100 yards or so in.

I’m interested in this model as last time I was fit by Titleist outside, Pro V1 was my recommended ball, with AVX second. I’ve tested all the current models and here are my findings:

AVX: launch is good, iron spin is good and I tend to hit it the furthest and still have good stopping power with irons but want to see more spin with wedges.

Pro V1: launch is good, iron and wedge spin is good. I prefer the 2019 version as I think the 2021 is a bit too soft, but could still game it. I launch 2021 a bit higher than 2019, again prefer 2019 but could play 2021.

Pro V1x: launch is high for me as is spin so I loose a bit of distance. I really don’t need to see a 6 iron spin back.

Pro V1x left dash: launch is high but spin is good. It launches higher than I’d like but hits and sticks on the green like velcro and wedge spin is good.

I’m interested to see if left dot gives me performance similar to 2019 Pro V1, if so then I’m sold.
  4. the Left Dot was a precursor, from a technology standpoint, to the 2017 Pro V1. Not sure what a new left dot is all about......
  5. Has anyone heard any updates on when and if Titleist is going to offer this ball like they did with the left dash?

According to the podcast that Titleist released a few weeks ago they were going to release a limited quantity yesterday. However that didn’t happen and I can no longer see the series of podcasts that Titleist released early about this golf ball.

I called Titleist yesterday to inquire about this release and they took my name and number but I have not heard anything back from them. Hopefully we’ll hear something soon.
  7. Would love that.

I subscribed to the Titleist podcast, but the last I checked these episodes have been removed.

I am doing some ball testing for Titleist right now. The balls are unmarked, but I have a suspicion that they are the left dot.

Can you comment on what you are noticing with the test balls? Feel, flight, spin etc?

I've been given two different balls in unmarked white sleeves. There are no marking besides the Titleist logo and the number 3 on one sleeve and 4 on the other. There is a different dimple pattern and some small lettering that probably indicates the mold.

Both of these balls are soft. Softer than the ProV1x/Z Star XV that I normally play, and I would say softer than a ProV1.

BALL 3 is low launch and low-mid spin off the driver, but checks up with wedges.
BALL 4 launches high and has high spin for me.

Here are some trackman numbers with the driver.

TYPE Distance Carry Launch Ball Speed Back Spin
    BALL 3 271.4 252.82 11.6 152.9 2644.5
    BALL 4 265.63 252.7 12.43 150.12 3567.1

I think ball 3 is the Pro V1 left dot and ball 4 is Pro V1 star.

You might be right. I hadn't considered the star model. Was thinking the 4 was a cheaper model ball. But it does feel like urethane. All 6 balls passed an epsom salt balance test, so they are well made despite being prototypes.

It’s purely a guess but when I talked to Titleist two weeks ago the individual I talked to mentioned some new prototype golf balls being released. Plus the left dot and star versions of the Pro V1 were mentioned in this article: www.pgatour.com/.../here-is-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-new-titleist-pro-v1x-left-dash-golf-ball-equipment.html so I thinks it’s possible for Titleist to be looking at expanding their product line which is a great idea if you ask me. The more options offered the more we can really dial a golf ball into our games.
  17. From what I have read about ‘Star and Dot’ PROV1 variants, they aren’t going to fit a huge number of golfers (probably less than left dash). If these do come out I would be surprised if they ever expanded past the 2019 CPO style offering of left dash. Those not circulate in pro shops nowadays but seemingly the market for the ball is considerable... definitely more than titleist thought at first!

I hope these do come out and bringing both left dot and star out, I believe can only benefit Titleist. The more ball options there are, the more players who could fit into a Titleist ball, even if we can only order the CPO’s online. Hopefully we will hear something soon about the availability of left dot.
  19. Just played my first round with the left dot and it is now my new gamer. I’m a 4 handicap with Driver SS in the high 90’s.

Feel: off of the putter and around the greens I would say it feels just like the 21 Pro V1. On full shots its just a touch firmer. I would say exactly like the 19 Pro V1. For me its perfect.

Spin: around the greens it spins just like the standard Pro V1. 50-80 yards again spins just like the regular pro V1. On full iron shots it definitely spins less. I would say just like the AVX, maybe just a touch more but not much. I haven’t hit these on a launch monitor so spin off of the driver is just a guess but I would say it spins less than the standard Pro V1. I seemed to get more roll out with the left dot.

Trajectory: off of both Driver and irons I would put it right in between the AVX and the standard Pro V1. For me it was right where I want it.

Distance: longer off of the driver for me than both the AVX and the standard Pro V1. Off of the irons I would say its a half club longer compared to the standard 21 pro V1 and just about as long off of the irons as the AVX.

Overall I really like this ball. I’m going to hit it on a launch monitor next week so I will have some numbers to share.
  20. with all the tour wins this ball has produced, might i say with the right marketing, this could be a very popular ball?? Not sure how they would market this but it could become a better version of the regular prov1?? that might hurt sales so i could see this ball being downplayed as a niche ball.....i am very excited to use this ball....the description fits everything i need
  21. Just made available today in a limited release for those that are interested. Will likely be gone after today!

Was able to play a few rounds. Love this ball…. New gamer for me…. The launch window is ideal…. Flies long off driver but still has soft feel and plenty of spin near the greens. Love it…. Please make it a regular in the rotation!!!
  26. hopefully a 2nd release is coming..........and then to market.....this is my new ball.....i just hope they will be available for me

  29. I love the left dash BUT, it launches too high for me. When I heard they were releasing the left dot I bought a couple dozen… I wish I bought 10 dozen!
I LOVE THIS BALL!!! I hope they end up releasing it. It launches in the perfect window for me. Spin rates and decent angles are great and it still drops and stops even with wedges.
It’s much longer than the left dash for me with the driver and even irons due to the lower launch and spin. I’d say on average at least 10 yards longer with the driver.
Titleist, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE release this ball to the market!!!

    +1 on this.....

this is my new ball.....its the closest ting to a game changer for my game.....

i just placed 5th in my league championship at a tough links course, 4 shots from the win.....

this ball performed PERFECTLY with the wind we had and flew a country mile. I won the long drive title with a 317 yard bomb (for me its a bomb)....i am a 270 type guy but this ball just flies very long and the trajectory is perfect. On this day, i was the long drive king....roll out helped a bit but when i hit it, my 4 some made comments like "Wow" and "Thats a a bomb"......Please release more of these and get this to market!!!!!!
  31. Longest ball off the tee I have hit to date AND it doesn't feel like a rock like the Left Dash or CS XLS. Feels great on approach shots as well and has great check around the green. I love the flight of this ball as well, very penetrating and great in the wind. I have been hesitant to pay $50/dz for balls in the past but would 100% do it for this ball. Great job Titleist, I hope it becomes a permanent part of the ProV1 lineup.

I have just tried this ball this week. For me who draws the ball of drives and fades of iron shots they seem to fit my game. They come of my 620 mb Titleist blades and my tsi3 well!!
