  1. Hello, I have an old Titleist 909 D2 driver that came with a made for Titleist "voodoo" (regular flex) shaft. I would like to replace the club with a new 917 driver but am having a hard time comparing the shafts that are offered now with the shaft on this driver. It seems that there are additional and different details to consider. However, I have been very pleased with this shaft and would like to get as close to it as possible.

Can you provide me with information that will help me find a current shaft that is equivalent to this older model?

    Thank you, Michael

When you go in for your "fitting", which we highly recommend that you take the 909 with you. Your fitter will be able to set you up with a shaft close to what you have. Remember that shaft is almost ten years old and the so has the technology. He put you on the TrackMan can do comparison's in the two club/shaft set ups. You will be pleasantly surprised in the new Titleist technology. Check for a Titleist Thursday in your area. The best part about these fittings, they are free.

The 917 is so different compared to the 909 (hosel adjustability & CG weights) that preselecting a shaft based on what you liked in the 909 may not even be close to the correct shaft for you with the 917. Setup a fitting session with a qualified Titleist fitter (or wait until the Titleist Thursdays start up again in your area). You'll hit shots with your driver to set a baseline and from there the fitter will have you try head & shaft combos to see which works best for you.
  4. Thank you both for your input.
