I've wondered the same thing. Perhaps it's all about squeaking any bit of forgiveness and technology into a tour iron shape which is why many used the AP line.

Do you play for a living? Those guys do so every shot and made cut is important to them. A little more forgiveness and shorter birdie putts is more important to them than appearance.

It's a game of misses. T100 looks amazing at address, feel great as well, but has a higher MOI and is easier on the misses.

How do people pick clubs? Depends on the person, and how you approach the game:

Left brain
Turf interaction
Moment of inertia
Coefficient of restitution spread across the face

Right brain
Looks at address
Feel at impact
Confidence
Pleasure

But if you want to dig deeper, consider this:

Any decent player can play blades or CBs from 7-LW. It's not THAT hard. It's what happens with 3-6 that determines what you should play, or you consider a mixed set.

If you care about score over pleasure, play clubs for your misses. Here's what to look for:
1. Do you have any spin issues (too high)? If your game could benefit from reduced spin, don't play blades.
2. Do you have any plane issues (too steep)? If you tend to get steep and/or take big/deep divots, don't play blades.
3. Do you have contact issues (toe or heal)? If you tend to miss the sweet spot often, don't play blades.

Blades don't have a handicap limit, but people with high handicaps tend to have issues with all 3 of those. CBs help a little, but sometimes not enough to overcome those issues. Honest assessment of yourself is needed.

If you care about pleasure over score, there's no wrong answer. Play what you like.

I have a set of 690CB's from 2006 that I am as much in love with today as when I bought them, tried AP2s but they just don't do the same thing

I also find this pretty interesting, the CBs are awesome looking clubs, but results matter. They wouldn't choose the ap2 over the CB if the ap2 wasn't producing better results for them. It is puzzling though

Project X LZ 5.5. Play DG s300 for years. As a now 60 year old these are a perfect fit. Just a hair springier.

Same performance with a tad more forgiveness in ap2. The CBs in my experience have had more spin which most pros don’t really need.

It’s interesting to look at what the pros play. Lots of guys with some sort of blade in the bag but yet the ap2s are the most used iron on tour.

If you wanna be a baller or at least look like one the PXG black carbon irons are by far the sweetest god damn clubs I have ever used. Not sure where you live but I had to drive an hour just to get fitted by a dealer. When you are spending that kind of money on irons you better get fitted right! Let's be honest Titleist and miz make some very ([Url=https://golfguides.info/most-forgiving-irons/]most forgiving irons[/Url]) sweet feeling blades but I just love the top line of these things and the way the weight of the iron feels to me is very helpfully, I can feel exactly what is happening. Plus they just have that sexy factor. I do like their drivers as well but I love love love my cally alpha black tour. You really just need to find what you like looking at, how the weight is distributed, and then if you like the sound and feel. Can you tell I fucking love shopping for golf clubs even more than looking for a car?

I have project x lz in my 718cb's. Wish the dynamic gold 120's was offered. The kick in the project x feels a little klunky compared to dynamic gold smooth release. It performs well it is just a feel thing for myself.

I have been wondering the same thing. The CB’s have a classic look and I’m sure they are very workable. If you have a single digit handicap and are also a traditionalist, the CB’s would seem to be the perfect irons. To those of you who have them in the bag, what shaft are you playing ?

Also am playing the 718cbs and love them. The feel is amazing. Distance are more true than ever, just know they deliver and Also the first set of irons I can play and also play my woods correctly. Indeed weird to not see them being played as much on tour maybe some mb players playing them in higher clubs but not seen much of them.

Think there is a big “forgiveness” bias towards these clubs. Almost all friends and family are scared to hit them and stick with more forgiving clubs but the few that try them are instantly in love with them and directly start questioning the forgiving aspect and Some even mentioning they are as or even more forgiving than their own “more forgiving clubs”.

All in all amazing clubs, great sound, feel, and stunning looks and one of those clubs that you just can’t stop hitting!

I have new set of 718 CB's. I did not try the AP 2, MB. I came from playing forged miz blades. It might be the club head feel. The Cb's face insert is a little harder than forged 1025 carbon steel. I switched to get a more forgiving club in the medium & long irons plus the size & lofts are the same as blades.

The fitters put them into other clubs, could be the looks.. But my guess is the AP2 are a lot more forgiving.
