For the winter, I changed the MB’s over to 620 CB. So playing 620 CB in bag. This is due to winter, and not playing as much and not being able to practice

RE: Why do I make the game so tough

….ego…
The T series 150/200 irons won’t feel the same but at some point the forgiveness will benefit your game. Like there aren’t many 60+ still using a 4 iron.
You may not be there yet, but there will be a time.

RE: Why do I make the game so tough

MJ, I understand what you are saying and agree a lot with it.
Almost all my life I was playing with blades. It has less forgiveness but a lot more feel.
Getting older, swing speed decreased and it is not always a good match with blades.
I am also playing with 2 sets, one is cavity back and the other are blades.
For me, I like hitting blades 8i to PW. I found almost same result as cavity back.

But longer irons are another story. I preferred cavity due to additional forgiveness.
I sent my 3 iron on vacation few years ago, the year after was the 4 iron.
I am not sure if I will retired my 5 irons also.
I just bought a launch monitor to understand what exactly are useful in my bag.

So the idea of a mixed back, I found it excellent.

RE: Why do I make the game so tough

At 78, young fellow, with bad back and hips, and of course aging, distance does go away. Really lost a lot over the past four years. Stop chasing the ever elusive game I use to have. 150 is now a six iron for me. Handicap up ten strokes and just decoded to leave my ego in the garage every day when I go to the course. Do my exercises at home, take a few practice swings with my orange whip at the range, hit a few balls and putt, hoping to have a fun day under four hours with my fellow seniors. My goal at this stage is to stay away from those demon triple bogies. I love the Titleist T350s R300 very forgiving (all Titleist irons are now forged) and finally this month admitted that it is easier to hit a regular shaft in my driver/fairway/hybrid. The mental part is the hardest to adjust to. The physical issues you learn to live with, with a bit of exercise and Ibeprofin 800mg. Surgery is not an option for the back issues. Has helped me a some, my bipolar game not so much on a consistent basis. Hakuna matata.

RE: Why do I make the game so tough

There's a reason why nearly every Titleist staffer plays T100 or T150. MB's are nearly obsolete for that very reason. T100 provides the performance of a blade with the forgiveness that makes everyone better.
