  1. Did you see Adam Scott wearing vintage, leather soled, metal spiked Footjoy’s at Riviera? Very cool, but he promotes their newest lines, interesting move!

Some of the tour guys who wear modern style still add metal spikes. Soft Spikes brand sells a version that fits twist on styles but has a metal spike. Tiger wears them in his shoes, even the ones that look like tennis shoes. Of course, those guys in spikeless soles like ProSL have no way to go to metal. I think you will continue to see pros with FJ Premium shoes wearing some with metal.

Yeah dale is right, there are a lot of metal spikes out on tour. A lot more than we think. Its kinda weird to see, guys like woods, mickelson, Furyk or Vjay etc etc who lived in the metal spike era is one thing, but to see some of the younger players is very interesting. I guess if your swinging that fast, the metal spikes would make a difference.

Never liked the soft spikes from the time they came out, but golf courses banned metal spikes so there was no choice.

Missed the spike era, but I hear stories of "Lead Foots" that tore up the greens!

With an all leather sole, it most likely was the 1857 shoe, which is FJ's high end line of golf shoes.

This is the sole on the new Premiere shoes.......

Good point, Dale. And agree. Shoes such as the Pro/SL doe provide good balance and traction. Am glad that they are allowing the Pros to repair cleat marks on the greens, when putting. With the types of greens today and as low as they are cutting them on the weekends, nails/spikes can easily put a number of marks on the greens. With the young guys out there now hitting balls unbelievable distances, I wonder how many are wearing metal spikes?

Still have my old pair of white wingtips with the metal spikes in them! Just hate to throw them out miss the metal
plus they were so much easier to keep clean of leaves and grass than the soft spikes.

I'm just the opposite....I will never go back to metal spikes! I find that I have no balance/slipping issues without them and my feet are so much happier for not wearing them anymore.
