Controlling Distance From a Bunker

  1. Controlling the distance the ball flies out of a bunker isn't always easy for most players; particularly if it's a longer bunker shot. However, it really doesn't have to be that difficult if you just apply a little "full swing logic" to the problem. Check out this video to learn how to use a tactic you already know about to help you control distance from a long bunker shot.

  3. Yep...it's a tough one for sure! The video here describes the longer "greenside" bunker shot technique. A fairway bunker shot is a whole other ballgame...

  5. That presents a whole other set of challenges! You typically won't see deep bunkers placed that far away from the greens (usually only greenside bunkers are that deep and have high lips), but when you get that you can always open the face a bit more to the club you've chosen to add some loft. If that won't do it then you're going to have to play it more like a fairway bunker shot with a lofted wedge and try to hit the ball first. That's not ideal, but it might be necessary given your situation.
