Just a quick one in regards to wedge grinds I’m currently using a sm8 5410 S Grind around the green.

My problem is it’s very rare that I catch the ball cleanly, I play off +1 so I have a fair idea what I’m doing. The vast majority of my misses are chunks where the leading edge just digs in behind the ball and pops it up.

It’s it worth messing around with a different grind and bounce to help with this? Or how have you overcome this issue ?

From your location I am guessing you play a lot of firm tight lie pitch shots. S grind does not have a lot of heel relief so you might be squaring the face to avoid excessive bounce and that square face when adding shaft lean is digging in the leading edge. The D or M grind would allow you to slightly open the face a bit more and use the light bounce at impact. Might be worth finding a place you can get a loaner of a 54D or 56M and test them out. Best of luck with it.

If you're a digger like me, which it sounds like it, you might try some more bounce. It helped me. Go to a fitter, if available.

There's little or no trailing edge on the S grind. Dale may have a point; the D or M grind might be better, given the firm conditions.

You might wanna try an 54.08 M Grind and open it just a touch. Works for me. I also have a 54.12D for when things are softer. Very similar grind to M.

You should utilize the Wedge Selector Tool on this site. It has proven to be very helpful to me and several of my friends. It asks all the right questions to help you determine the best loft, grind, and bounce for your new Vokey wedge purchase.

I absolutely used the wedge selector tool on the vokey website. That’s how I ended up with the 3 wedges I have. I think next time I’ll actually go get physically fit for my wedges

I struggle to understand about the grinds on a wedge and how they help. I must be useless at golf as I cannot see how it helps. Can anybody enlighten me please
