Until May 2020 I’d never played golf, a buddy suggested I start. On January 22, 2021, standing on the 17th at Trump International Golf Course in Dubai, UAE I looked down at the green, the pin mere feet off the forward bunker. The wind was stiff and in my face, we were losing light. I hit a high baby-fade and heard my bud Jean Cilliers say “that’s in the hole”. We all watched the ball hit the front of the green, check slightly right and disappear into the cup. I looked back at the boys not believing what just happened and I swear to God I have never seen a human jump so high as another bro — Jack Smillie — jump! roaring YEEEES!! It was so cool, although I must admit that due to the short period of time I’d only been playing it didn’t really register for another day or so that it was a big deal. I should have known when our other bud — Bryan Doyle — was instantly on my back kissing my head, screaming!! What an afternoon. I’m totally addicted to golf!
