Read an interesting article today from Golf magazine regarding tour players handicaps. Have you given any thought how low they would be compared to ours? I found it interesting and they listed by name and their handicaps. Average was a +5 on the PGA tour. Based on Jordan Speith's average index wonder if I can get 18 strokes off the senior tees in match play? Who would you like to play, match play, with strokes?

  2. If I remember right Tiger played at a +13.1 during his 2000 Tiger slam year. I don't think it is quite apples to apples based on course set up/pin locations to what the scorecard ratings say. I am confident you put a tour player against the best player at your home course and the tour player could spot him 6 shots a side and still win easily.

In "match play", where the strokes fall on the card?

    Lethbridge,

When they advertise these guys are good they mean it. Pretty impressive indexes while playing on tough courses

Even at match play I would not want to play any of those tour players. The way the courses are generally setup for tour events is pretty difficult. The average player is not use to those kind of conditions. There might be exceptions. Oakmont where the members claim the green speeds are faster than they are for the tour.

Nevertheless even from the forward tees I could not compete.
    Those guys are good!

Think it would be interesting. Guess the fastest greens I have played in competition ran 14 a year ago. Above the hole and you were dead. That three day invitational tournament is coming up the end of August. They normally are around 12. Great greens.
  7. For your players the courses are always longer than normal. Quite unbelievable how good they are.

Struggling at times to be a single digit hcp and a great score for me would be a bad day for them. Not sure I could match consistently at that.
