Being lucky enough to have worked at the same course for the last 23 years I find that when I come in and open my office at 4:30 am, is my favorite time of day at the golf course. Quiet moonlit fwys , wildlife waking. No crew yet. Planning out the days schedule. About an hour until the sunrise. What a great place to be. What's your favorite time spent at your course? Play Well Steve S.

Gotta love the early mornings. I cannot do it every week but once or twice a month I am able to get on the first tee time at the course along with the other dew-sweepers. Quick pace, quiet course - my favorite time of the day for certain. Jason

Not working at a course, my favorite time is early (like when they open) and being the first group out. Like you said, there is a lot of serenity, it is often the coolest part of the day, and no one ahead of us. I'll gladly tolerate dew on the greens for that.

I like after noon time. All the morning golfers getting done. When I get their 1st tee is usually open. Then its hit and go. Even walking done in under 3 1/2 hrs. Not that I am in a rush. I can get a good rhythm going.

    Steve,
Greetings from fellow former Supt! This was my second full summer of being retired! Still adjusting!! Like you my favorite time of day was right before dawn. I lived right on the property of the club I worked for 30 years! Kept my golf cart in my garage and started my mornings making the first rounds on #16 right behind the house. Nothing like seeing the sun come up on a golf course!

I like the evenings during the fall months as the sun slowly starts it's descend and the leaves are changing color. The course has already beat up everyone and they have gone home it's a nice peaceful round with very few left on the course.

Evenings. After a long day of dealing with "people issues" there is nothing quite like grabbing the bag and walking the front nine during the last hour of light at my home course. The sun is falling behind the hill, the dramatic long shadows line the fairways. The rabbits, birds, and occasional coyote are scurrying about. The air is cooling and the breeze is dying down. Most everyone has already vacated the course so it's pretty much just me, nature, and that little white ball.

For me it depends on the time of the year. Temperatures play a big factor in the time of the year. Late in fall and in winter, I like to go out late in the day when the last groups have cleared out. Great time to walk the course with very little activity. In the summer months it is early morning with very little activity on the course. Summer temps in Texas can get "Africa Hot".

Usually late afternoons, after work. For the most part the course is quiet and I can just play. Fall afternoons can be amazing with all that low angled light, showing every contour of the course.
I have also been caught in absolute downpours, while walking, no rain gear and had an absolutely amazing time!
  10. Nothing beats the first group off and seeing the footprints and balls trails for others to read.

I love the evening time where I play most of the ppl have gone and all the wildlife comes out and it’s so peaceful

Nothing better than hitting your favorite course whilst the sun sets in the dog days of summer...something poetic about it

I like playing first tee time in the Summer, but don’t mind playing later in the day in the Fall. It’s tough to get out later in the day w/ little ones and all of their activities, though!

Unquestionably the toughest work in a golf course is a super. Glad to hear the love you have for what you do. Thanks to you for all you do.

Best time of day on the course: I've started golf late in my age- it was in '91. I once used to love being the first or be in the first group out, but it has fallen and I've grown out of it later and later. Even though I still get in and play the regular early group's game, my favorite time of the day on the course is when I'm following the mowers and freshly cut hole for the day. Most especially when playing two consecutive days- not only the lowest cut and the smoothest greens are in front of you, but the hole locations will be different and therefore I'm not playing yesterday's pin on the same course.

Like early mornings in mid summer but love the afternoons in spring and fall
  16. I've been a big fan of early mornings lately. Try to schedule a tee time to be the first off at 630am. Down here in Alabama, that's the best time of the day in the summers because it's still cool. Also usually get to watch the deer and turkey wander through the course that early in the morning, which is very peaceful.

When I played the East Coast I enjoyed evening plays but in Texas the mosquitos ate you away. Early mornings were best in the fall or early spring. I prefer fall mornings or evenings when I can.
  18. All my life playing golf, always has been the twilight rounds. Beating the daylight coming up the 18th.
