IMO, put that money into a local PGA professional, get multiple lessons and go one on one.

I only say this b/c i've been to golf school a few times. It's fun BUT the one on one is huge versus 4:1. When I did the 4:1, you barely get the looks b/c the Pro is looking at the other players in your group. And then you all sit around and watch each other's swing and getting tips.. Nah, i think it's money well spent going one on one with a PGA professional. Just my 2 cents...

I agree with Speedy. Take a few playing or private lessons with a good PGA Professional.

I also agree with Speedy. Unless you really just want the vacation/golf school experience, which is totally fine, to each their own. I can definitely recommend that you find a local pro and invest that money into lessons. Could start with just a single lesson to get a feel for their teaching style and how well you get on, and then if you like it keep going with the lessons to get the long term benefit of an instructor who knows your game and your swing.

Definitely a local pro. Find someone that you feel comfortable with and that you feel is communicating well with you. You spend $1,000 with that person and you will not only get a lot more for your money, you will build a relationship that will go on long after the last dollar is paid.

Also that local pro will probably give you little helpful tips without even have to pay for a lesson after that.

Local is a solid way to improve your game, the trip does sound interesting though & could give you some benefit, BUT a local PGA professional will have a more definite small detail (little things) that will help your swing instead of the one size fits all generic swing thought. He will learn your swing & habits in a short time & help you move forward. For a person to learn & teach you in 3 days would be a tough assignment to give you the proper attention your swing MAY need.

But it does sound like a fun experience to say you did it.

I agree with what you all are saying and went the local pro route this year when I started golfing. Paid $500 for weekly lessons over the summer that consisted of me hitting 2 buckets of range balls with him observing, giving occasional swing tips. I don realized it wasn't money well spent but still enjoyed it.
I'm thinking of trying a golftec lesson next summer. And nothing against the local pro route just have to find the right one!
The school I'm referring to in the op is more of a go somewhere get lessons and golf getaway kind of deal.

I’ve done a mix of things; there’s no one right answer to how you learn. I did the Monte thing last summer and had several good takeaways, as well as a golf school with Jim Waldron the prior summer that was outstanding. I’ve had a one hour lesson with what I consider a world class instructor (Tyler Ferrell) and he gave me a position drill that did more than a year’s lessons with Golftec. I think Monte’s clinics are very good for the cost, but you need to take good notes to remember all his points, and he covers just about every essential aspect, from a few common putting issues, to chipping, bunker, iron and driver, plus many stories, and an individual analysis.
