My dad is retiring in about two weeks and I am planning a surprise golf trip to give him as a gift and our first "guys trip" in about 4 years. Has anyone been down to TPC Sawgrass before on a golf trip? I'm trying to find some cool things to do when we are not on the golf course.

Tons to do there ...the resort has a great bar with pools and hot tubs. The golf hall of fame is near (they say it was the birth place of America...but us New Englanders know). Beaches are close, Pete Dye sister course near, and great conch fritters as far as the eye can see. The club house in Sawgrass has events throughout the week at times as well. Enjoy it!
  3. My wife took me there for my 40th birthday. One of the greatest gifts ever. We played both courses while we were there and it was top notch all the way around. Off the course, we went down to St. Augustine and spent time down there. I would recommend going to the World Golf Hall of Fame while there.

Enjoy the trip down there. For me it was a bucket list item and tried to take it all in.

You and your dad will surely enjoy Sawgrass. Both courses are fun to play. Excellent practice range. Hotel has the usual. The clubhouse has an excellent restaurant.

I know that if you stay at the Sawgrass Marriott, they have a large share of the greens fees. Not sure when you are coming down, but TPC is May 10-13, so check about playability before/after the TPC. Its a great area with no shortage of golf courses and restaurants. Make to sure to visit TacoLu, my wife will drive the hour any time to go there. They are the food trucks at Tacos on Twelve at the TPC. I haven't played it yet, but I hear Hidden Hills in Jacksonville is in great shape as well. Have fun.

I've been down there before. There were plenty of great spots to eat and socialize in Jacksonville beach and near town.
