  1. Hi, I'm really excited about the new SM6's, and I am going to have them replace my 2 years old SM5's as soon as they are available.

I've looked at the available finishes and i think that the jet black looks really fresh, and their ability to roast is also interesting. I do also like the classic tour chrome, even if it doesn't roast.

My concern is which of these I should choose. Will the jet black turn out ugly next to a set of 716 Ap2's? Will they affect my game in some way? Is the tour chrome too boring? Is the jet black too "non-tour" for a 5 handicap like me?

I would really appreciate some opinions that would help me to a decision.

Hey Jacob, I am sporting a new set of 716 Ap2s and I have just ordered through my pro a set of SM6s (50, 54 M, 60M) all rocking the Steel GREY finish.

I am upgrading from a set of custom TVD SM4s in Chrome that have more than served me well.
Google SM6 and check out the images and you will see a large number of all the finishes and that will help you pick what will look great in your bag.
    Cheers,

Just looked at them in person today. I was going to go with Tour Chrome before looking. IMO, it is not too boring. However, now after seeing them all, I am torn. I also like the Steel Gray. Reminds me a lot of the old Black Nickel finish. Should I go all Tour Chrome or all Steel Gray, or two of one finish and one of the other? I am so confused.

Thankfully, the Raw Black finish doesn't fit my eye as much as the other two, though I do like the way the paint fill pops against it.

Jacob, I wasn't a fan of the chrome finish in the SM4 or SM5, but I think the chrome finish on the SM6 looks really fresh. The jet black wedges will rust over time, and the color will fade. I bought an SM5 in black last summer and stripped it raw with vinegar, steel wool and super fine grit sandpaper. It's all about preference, so that call should be entirely on you.

I order the steel grey last week. I was tour chrome guy for a long time but felt like it was time to switch it up. 50* F grind 8* bounce, 54* S grind 10* bounce and 58* K grind 12* bounce. +1, 2* upright, KBS 610 wedge shafts, S+. Can't wait for them to get here in a couple weeks!

I would have to go with the steel grey. They just look awesome. Good luck choosing.

I currently have the SM4's in Black Nickel in a 52, 56, 60 setup. I'm looking to replace them with the SM6's in Steel Gray with a setup of 50, 54, 58. I game the Ap 1's so that degree setup seems to work better for gap yardages. Just have to choose grind and bounce options. Will probably get fit which is a three week wait.

I would say get the color you want to look at. I wanted the jet black but didn't want to deal the rust over time so I went with steel grey. I believe you cant go wrong with anyone

Any titleist insiders/employees want to weigh in on a potential option for raw finish? Not jet black raw. I'm talking raw like you see in every tour players bag. Give us what we want Bob!
  10. Play the 714AP2s and excited to have a few new SM6 Vokey Wedges coming my way in the Tour Chrome finish.

I'm torn as well. I have brand new tour chrome but can return them for steel grey. What to do?? When they all look so good it's hard to pick.

If you don't like the Jet Black you can always strip them to a raw finish

  13. Hey Stephen, can you advise how you stripped the Jet Black SM6's to raw?
  14. Soak them in vineger overnight
  15. Love the look of your black sm6 stripped down. I am purchasing 4 vokey's and wondering if it is easy to get that finish you have on those wedges? Also will they rust now that the black oxide is off?
  16. I am interested in how you stripped the wedges that is exactly what I want.

Looks are one thing, but is there a difference in feel and wearability. I played Tour Chrome and still have one. It feels good but I think in the past the grooves wore too quickly. I just put a Steel Grey in my bag and it seems to feel harder.......
  18. Can anyone who got the Steel Grey finish attest to how the finish has held up over time?
