Since I replaced my Cleveland wedge in the mid 90's I've been a Vokey guy. I've got an old with numerous worn out Vokeys and 3-4 in my quiver at all times. I actually got to meet and spend time with the man last year in Pinehurst and became even more smitten with him after I realized how genuine a person he truly is. So yes, my love for Vokey runs deep, but I'm only a man.

Recently I won 3 wedges made by a competitor out of Asia who's name starts with an M. They're very high end clubs, and the set I won was even pimped out by a well known Instagram artist. They're beautiful - really beautiful. Normally I'd keep them as a collectors item or think about trading them down the road, but 2 of the 3 wedges had already been hit. Since I've never hit M clubs (or even seen them in the wild) I took the two "used" wedges out for a spin.

Outside of aesthetics, these sticks don't hold a candle to Vokey's craftsmanship. Full shots felt fine, but the versatility around the green wasn't there. I'm not sure of the bounce or grind of the M clubs, but all in all I felt so much more confident hitting my Vokeys. Vokeys are more consistent, versatile, and just flat out work better. I'm thankful I won some slick wedges, but now I know I won't stray from Mr. Vokey again.

  2. I could not agree more!

    Cheers, Chris
