Kind of a personal preference thing. Some people like to match their irons and wedges with the same shafts and others like the standard S200 for its weight and overall performance. The thought is that most wedge shots are feel shots and not full swing shots. You want something that allows you to feel like you can control the club head when chipping and in bunkers.

Get fit! Some like to go with lesser weight and stiffness in the wedges than irons.. Getting on a range with launch monitor will give your the best answer!

That is what Mr Vokey recommended for me when I was at his fitting last Spring at Pinehurst. Am well pleased with his recommendation.

I have been playing the KBS Hi-REV 2.0's for a long time now.
All of my SM8's have them with the exception of my 46 degree wedge.
Love them and they are very consistent...great balance of power and feel.

Get fit for your wedges and ask to try the 2.0's!!!

Might even need a regular shaft, but that should be determined by a fitter.......where do you live?

One rule of thumb is full shots to feel shots. Wedges primarily for full shots would use the iron shaft. Lob and possibly sand wedges are more likely using a wedge shaft. But there are many thumb rules to choose. Personal choice.

Bob Vokey has often said that your wedge flex should be 1 flex softer than your iron flex.

I subscribe to Don O’s rule of thumb. I play a 56 degree SM8 for shots around the green. It’s the M grind so very versatile. I play it for a full shot of up to up to 100 yards and partial shots from shorter yardages. But since it is Used more as my club around the green, I play the DG S200. The heavier shaft feels better for those shorter shots. I also play it 1 degree flatter than the rest of my set since you don’t get the toe down effect around the green. FYI my T200 shafts are AMT Black S300s.

For the 52 degree which i use for full shots from the fairway (Anywhere from 80 to 100 percent of full speed), I match the shaft to my T200’s, and also match the lie since I get the toe down effect on the full shots.

I just got new 52 and 56 degree SM8s with specs above and love the performance. I have 58 degree K grind for soft sand (Mainly my Bandon Trips), set up the same as my 56.

I was fitted for irons and wedges by a Titleist fitting specialist last year, he suggested having the same shafts as in my irons, worked for me!

I have the same shaftes, 880AMC's for my irons, C16's, and my wedges.

I look at wedges from 2 views. For my PW or 48*, I mainly use it for full shots and bump and run around the green. So I usually go with the same shaft in my irons for this club. Then the GW, SW and LW, I have had the wedge flex in my Vokey's forever but recently went with the S400 as its more of a moderate tempo, low trajectory and heavier shaft than my irons. This gives me a bit more feel in the shorter shots, I feel.
