How many here have used it. I got one used for $189 and it had an NSPro950 S. I set it up to play as a 9 iron (42*). I liked the shaft so much that I reshafted my 620CB 8 iron.

I have a DG 115g Wedgeflex to match the shaft weight of my 8 iron.

Should I get fitted for a vokey? I have been using this vokey sm10 jet black wedge for almost 2 years now. How often should I get new wedges?

Titleist, What is this garbage?... It's cheapier than stuff bought off Amazon... Tour Velvet 360 cost $7 retail... You increased the wedges to $200... And now I have to buy $7 grip on top of that?...

This is not TV, any grip for any manufacturer all say Golf Pride on the bottom. I've used nothing but Tour Velvet and Tour Velvet 360 standard for the entire 6 years I've been golfing. This feels nothing like it. The feel is totally cheapy, the rubber is thin and very soft and elastic. The Titlist stamping looks like a Temu knock off... I think a Temu knock off would be better. I've bought an 8pk of cheap amazon grips for $13 for a friend starting to golf, and those grips were 10x better quality than this dissappointment on my brand new Vokey.

When you order clubs from Titleist/Vokey, you have the choice of any grip you like. So what is the real issue here. Choice. I order free stock grips off and then put on Golf Pride MCC plus fours. Has worked for me for years.

No, the stock grip completely changed from Tour Velvet to some cheap poor quality generic grip. That's the issue.

Not just elite golfers Dale. I too have trouble hitting shots that stay close to the landing spot. But for me it's the INTENDED landing spot.

Old Wedges vs Newer Wedges

Good day everyone, I love golf and absolutely everything that goes with it. Short game practice and on the course is my favorite part of the game.

I think I mostly understand why it is suggested to replace wedges more often these days, they essentially wear out the grooves causing less spin and control. That would be my first question - if that is in fact the full story.

I also wonder about the difference in older wedges vs the newer ones. I feel like my older Vokeys never really wore out or lost spin. So my second question is about the way they are made; is it a softer metal these days or something else that makes them basically wear out faster?

Lastly, is it possible to regroove either the older or newer wedges and have them perform like new again? And is it conforming to USGA and other governing bodies?

Interestingly enough, the newer wedges, SM11 in particular, are designed to reduce spin in the lower lofted wedges but retain spin in the high lofted ones. Too many elite players were having trouble hitting shots that stayed close to their landing spots. They did not want a wedge than spun back off the greens. It looks cool but the best players want just enough spin to stay close to their landing spot.

So the issue is the price of the club increased but the stock grip is still unchanged over the years? Regardless of the price of a club, I’ve always replaced the 360 as a personal preference. Either on order or after delivery.

I’ll guess you can order wedges (not authentic Vokey) from Temu for under $200 . As well as running shoes for less than what I pay for New Balance. Everyone sees value in different ways.

Re-grooving is not permitted under USGA rules in sanctioned events. Hand milling may increase spin, but by how much? It would be a lot easier to just find a gently used wedge than try to re-grove. IMHO.

Loss of spin is gradual over more than 100 rounds. So what might have been 9000 rpm’s may be 6000 rpm’s now. This may be fine for many players. If optimal spin is important, find access to a unit that can measure spin - where you can compare it to a fresh wedge. Serious players like tour pros will replace some of their wedges as often as every month.

The other component is the ball. There is no ionomer ball that will spin like a tour level urethane cover. Replacing wedges every 75 rounds is not needed for ionomer covers.

Seldom hit full swings with mine; it is around the greens and sometimes from bunkers. Wedge selection is 48 F, 54 M (with older 54 D if I know I am playing a course with softer, fluffy bunkers that won't plug and/or has rained and softened around the greens), and a 60 M. These allow me to hit a variety of shots from lots of different circumstances, and they fit with my shallower attack angle.

I like 58 better than 60. 5 yards more carry and a little more roll. 58-06K all around LW. 58-12D (57*) for fluffy sand.

As shown in my thumbnail is an 11 club carry bag. Wedgeworks 44F being used as a 9 iron. 48-54-57-58. F grind picks the ball better off a tight lie vs D grind. Using a 56-14F set to 54*. 58-12D set to 57 is good for fluffy bunkers. 58-06K is a pretty universal lob wedge.

I put my Dad's Apex 8 & 9 irons in to close the gap and pull the 44F. I also have a 56-12D set to 54* for a "10 club challenge." 13 clubs includes a PM

SM10 F or K or D Grind Sand Wedge

Vokey confuses me, need help. K grind is supposedly ultimate bunker club but not offered in 54* which is listed as sand wedge. F grind is most played sand wedge on tour but listed as best for full shots. My online wedge fitting recommends D grind. I need a 54 sand wedge with some versatility.

What club upgrades in order to upgrade my golf bag?

Keep stats like fairways hit, putts taken, and know your average distance with whatever you use between drive and wedges. Attack your weak points with a qualified fitter and possibly a teaching instructor. No sense in jumping to driver that hits 10 fairways and you consistently 3-4 putt most greens.
Finding the right wedges including grind is also a special fitting, as well.

I'm a bit different than most. For me, a 56-12D set to 54* and a 58-06K is a winning combination. I also play a 50-12F at 48*. I use a 64* wedge. I also have the option of 60-12K (58*) and 60T.

For most, 48-10F, 52-08F, 56-08M and 60-10S is a pretty generic setup. The important thing is a fitting. What worked with success in your previous wedge setup?

I might add now that the only difference between 64T and 60T is 10 yards. My current 64 is PM Grind 64/10. I played the 64W between 2020-2022.

This is the link to my blog. The blog spells it out.

My winning combination since mid 2024 was 58-12D (57*) and 60-06K. I played 58-14K set to 56 and 54-14F set to 52 between 2021-2024. I've been using 44F (42*) and 52-12F (50*) for almost a year. 6 months ago changed my "pitching wedge" to 50-12F (48*). With SM11, shifted D grind to 56-12 (54*). I have two options for lob: 58-06K and PM Grind 64/10 or 60-12K (58*) and 60-04T. 60-04T and 60-06K are very close but the edge goes to the T for open face; however, low bounce K works better off firm turf. D vs K is the same: D is better for open face but K is better on hard lies. Where D grind falls short vs the Ks is hitting on a severe downhill slope; the award for that is low bounce K or T grind.

F grind vs D grind as a "gap wedge" .... the advantage of F is pitching and chipping. Why I play 50-12F set to 48 is it swings better vs 48-10F and it's good for long bunker shots.

Low bounce K , M and T can be "finagled" into executing soft bunker shots.

For cutting through thick grass like a sickle, the Ks have it.

I'm going to be upfront about S grind.... leaves a lot to be desired in soft bunkers. Not good for the severe downhill slope with a hard lie. I know people who swear by S grind.

For me, the new K grind and D set 2* are optimized. It's 1* strong for S and M. Low bounce K and T stock.
