Fabian drained this chip and as Bob explained, "Guessing at your landing spot makes distance control very difficult in chipping and it doesn't help you develop feel around the greens. The one-third, two-thirds system is easy for anyone apply. It's easy to pace off and divide by three and it gives you a reference point for adjusting club selection and dealing with varying green conditions."
