Team Titleist has made the journey to Maui and will, once again, be bringing you wall-to-wall coverage of the PGA TOUR and worldwide professional tours all year long! This week's event will take place at The Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort, a unique par 73 layout that stretches to 7,452 yards.

Here are some of the Team Titleist highlights and notes from the tour...

#1 BALL AT THE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS: While the Hyundai Tournament of Champions is not the official start to the 2013-14 season, thanks to a new wraparound schedule of which six events have already been played, it is the first event on the 2014 calendar.

Nearly two-thirds (19) of the 30-player field will be teeing up a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball this week, including Titleist Brand Ambassadors Adam Scott (Masters) and Jason Dufner (PGA Championship), the only two major champions from 2013 who made the trip to paradise to participate in this "winners-only" event.

Scott, who also won The Barclays during the FedExCup Playoffs, is one of five participating players with multiple wins in 2013.

THE #1 BALL IN GOLF: With the wraparound schedule being utilized on the PGA TOUR and European Tours, Titleist is already off to an overwhelming ball count of 840 players, compared to 134 for its nearest competitor.

Through the first six events on the PGA TOUR, 434 players have relied upon a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than five times its nearest competitor with 80. Titleist players have also accumulated a combined six wins on the U.S. PGA and European Tours, compared to one for its nearest competitors.

FIVE OF SIX: The Hyundai Tournament of Champions marks the seventh official event of the PGA TOUR’s new schedule, with Titleist golf ball loyalists having secured victories in five of the first six tournaments. Champions include first time winner Jimmy Walker at the season-opening Open, followed by his fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas the next week ... Walker, incidentally, is the current FedExCup points leader in the new, young 2013-14 season.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: It was announced Thursday that Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott was named Male Player of the Year by the Golf Writers Association of America.

Scott made history by becoming the first Australian to win the Masters in April and then added a FedEx Cup playoff victory at The Barclays. He closed his memorable season by winning the Australian PGA and the Australian Masters, won the team portion of the World Cup of Golf, and was second by a shot in the Australian Open.

For the year, the No. 2 ranked player in the world, played in 20 tournaments worldwide, won four of them, was top three eight times, top 10 in half of them, and never missed a cut.  In addition to his win at the Masters, Scott tied for third at the Open Championship and tied for fifth at the PGA Championship.

FIRST TIMERS: There were 13 first time winners on the PGA TOUR during the 2013 calendar year and all of them are participating in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions this week. Nine of the 13 making their debut relied upon Titleist golf balls for 10 wins in 2013 ...

Three of the first timers (John Merrick/Northern Trust Open, Jordan Spieth/John Deere Classic, Jimmy Walker/ are also Titleist full product line brand ambassadors, trusting Titleist equipment from tee through green ...

Three of them (Spieth, Billy Horschel/Zurich Classic of New Orleans, Kevin Streelman/Tampa Bay Championship) also finished inside the Top 30 on the FedExCup points list at the end of the 2013 campaign and participated in the season-ending TOUR Championship ...

Spieth was named 2013 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year for his historic season-long performance ...

Among Titleist's other first time participants are Michael Thompson (The Honda Classic), Derek Ernst (Travelers Championship) and Ken Duke (Travelers Championship).

BREAKING DOWN THE FIELD: Eight of the players in the T of C field, also participated in the Presidents Cup, six of whom rely upon Titleist for their success, including United States members Bill Haas (AT&T National); Jason Dufner (PGA Championship); Zach Johnson (BMW Championship); Webb Simpson (Shriners Hospitals for Children Open); Jordan Spieth (John Deere Classic); and International team member Adam Scott (The Masters, The Barclays) ...

Zach Johnson’s 10 PGA TOUR victories are the most of any player in the field, and this will be his seventh appearance in the winners-only event ... Johnson won his most recent event, the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge, on the first hole of a sudden death playoff over ... Johnson had put a new set of AP2 irons (714 series) in the bag for the World Challenge after visiting Titleist's Oceanside Test Facility in Carlsbad earlier in the week ...

To say Titleist Brand Ambassador Adam Scott had a great year of golf in 2013 might be a bit of an understatement. His season started with a historic win at Augusta where he became the first Australian ever to win The Masters. It was an epic finish that featured Adam rolling his Pro V1 into the cup for a couple of clutch birdies down the stretch and in a sudden death playoff that helped him secure the green jacket and his first major.

All told, his 2013 campaign included two wins (The Masters and The Barclays), six top 10 finishes and 10 top 25 finishes on the PGA Tour. Add in his late season charge down under where he took home top honors at the Australian Masters along with the Australian PGA Championship and a second place finish at the Australian Open, and it is safe to say it was a stand out year.

So let's take another look at a special moment that Team Titleist captured on video a few weeks before Adam's win at Augusta...

Next question: what's on the menu for the champions dinner next year?

Back in June, we started the tour-seeding and performance validation process for the new Titleist AP1, AP2, CB and MB (714 series) irons and the launch was met with immediate success on tour.

The buzz on the range continued to grow as Titleist Brand Ambassadors Jordan Spieth and Jason Dufner were among the first players to find the winners circle with the new AP2 irons in their bags.

So let's take another look at the details from our worldwide launch post and go under-the-hood with Chris McGinley, Vice President of Golf Club Marketing, and Marni Ines, Director of Irons Development.

"I feel like I've established myself as a guy who can compete out here and play in the big events. To win one of those events would be a lifelong dream, and a crowning achievement on my career," said Jason.

Fast forward a few weeks and after a historic run at Oak Hill Country Club, Jason’s name will forever be inscribed on the Wanamaker Trophy and it is a dream come true.

Congratulations, Jason!

For our next highlight in the Team Titleist Year in Review, we check back on the story of the Scotty Cameron Futura X putter and its journey from Tour Prototype to a Major Championship.

This is the putter that inspired Scotty to create the Futura X and Futura X Dual Balance models, available now in golf shops worldwide.

From Concept to Championship: Adam Scott’s Futura X Prototype and a Sneak Peek...

Following several rounds of design, Scotty crafted the Futura X Prototype specifically for Adam. A one-of-a-kind putter for a one-of-a-kind player. It provides the high MOI (Moment of Inertia) and path that Adam was seeking. While the design of the putter creates a high MOI, Scotty took the putter one step further by adding more stability to the face with perimeter weighting. High MOI combined with perimeter weighting gives this putter a unique feel and performance.

The putter is milled from aluminum and includes a balance bar and four tungsten weights that are positioned under four adjustable stainless steel weights in the far four corners of the putter for maximum MOI. The putter is 49″ in length, has a 79* lie angle and 3* of loft. The finish is called “Frozen Titanium” and helps knock down glare.

And as the buzz continues to build on the putting greens around the PGA Tour, Scotty and his team continue to design more Futura X Prototype concepts and variations for other players. Titleist Brand Ambassador Jason Dufner is one of the players who was recently taking one of these prototypes out for a test drive.
